COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Cascara Quad is a dark, strong and surprisingly delicate ale made with dates and coffee cherries. Channeling the Trappist tradition, it’s brewed with an ethereal malt bill, and spiced with the fruit of the coffee bean (cascara). The aroma brings dates, cherries and pipe tobacco right to the nose and builds layers with hints of spice and fruity Belgian yeast. Once on the palate, Cascara Quad starts swinging clove, fig and molasses. Each sip offers sweet warmth, deep complexity and fleeting dryness.

Hops: Hallertauer Hersbrucker-Nobel, Styrian-Golding-Nobel
Malts: Pale, Munich, Caramel Munich, Biscuit, Black
Fruits/Spice: Belgium Amber Candy Sugar, Date Sugar, Cascara Tea
Body: Medium-Heavy
Aroma: Ripe figs, raisins, plums, black cherries, toffee, chocolate, pipe tobacco, rich Corinthian leather and leather bound books.
Mouthfeel: Starts big and smooth, finishes still smooth yet the cascara tea and higher ABV will bring a nice dry warm end to this epic novel.
Flavor: Sweet and rich, huge complex overall taste.
Visual: Brooding, dark, cloudy berry brown with tan head.

A solid beer but I guess it’s lacking something for a quad. A very smooth mouthfeel & a very good pour - this is a good beer overall. Cherry & bourbon aroma which is true to the flavor. The light body may not be true to the style but it makes this beer quite drinkable at 10%.

From the November 2013 3R6P tasting. +++ Sampled from a 22 oz brown bottle this beer poured a hazy orange-brown color with a medium sized foamy beige head that left good lacing. The aroma was sweet toasted caramel, dark fruits, bread and yeast. The flavor was tangy and sweet caramel, date, raisin, dark fruits and was a touch boozy and grainy. Medium finish. Moderately full bodied and smooth. Interesting.

Bottle at Bruce’s new pad, thanks to Kenny, 15/10/13. Hazed dark amber with a good sized off white head. Nose is dates, sugars, spice, cake mix, marzipan. Taste comprises dates, prunes, dark fruit base, brown sugar, toffee. Full bodied, fine carbonation, drying finale with a touch of alcohol. Ok quad - booze is well contained.

Tasting at Bruce’s new pad. Very hazy amber beer with a big pale cream coloured head. Palate is soft and airy and fairly dry. Creamy malt. Light spice. A little bubblegum ester. Light wood. Little coca cola. Smooth dry finish with a woody bitter aftertaste. Not bad!

Not a spectacular quad but a decent one. Insane bubblegum aroma. Peach colour. Nice lacing. Kind of hot boozy sweet flavour. It ain't complex but it's still pretty nice.

Pours deep copper with a thin layer of creamy off-white head that produces some nice lacing. Subtle earthy aroma with notes of toffee, dark fruit and more than a hint of alcohol. Flavor has some light cherry tartness up front with a warming alcohol presence in the middle and a malty finish. Mouthfeel is slightly dry and not at all cloying like quads can sometimes be.

Not a bad quad. Notes of raisins and dates. Finishes clean. Good Belgian! Not quite damnation but not bad.

Location: 22 oz bottle from State Line, 10/20/13

Aroma: The aroma is full of overripe fruit: plum, raisin, date, fig, etc., with toffee and chocolate
Appearance: It pours a murky reddish-brown color with a beige head and fairly full lace
Flavor: The flavor is heavy sweet, lots of dark fruits like the nose, rich and malty
Palate: This one is full bodied, it is pretty heavily sticky, rich and thick on the mouth
Overall Impression: This one is a little over sweet for my palate. The correct components are here, and there’s good complexity, but there’s just too much sticky sweetness for it to be a top of style offering.

Bottle cheers to Ken. Clear amber pour with little head to talk about. Loads of dark fruits - plum, date, prune, touch of spice and fairly hot. A fair bit of fig. Booze is there. Nothing special

Draft. From notes. Fruity and boozy with raisins, chocolate and dark fruits. Very good.
