4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Paddle @ Mellow Mushroom w/colleague & beer geek buddy Rick.
Pour: Smooth brown pour. Thin bead of tan foam. Porter-like.
Aroma: Slight-sweet syrupy nose.
Taste: Cocoa/chocolate tone with an amazing peppery finish. Very impressed at the construction of this thing. Iím a hop guy, so even trying this was a "leap of faith". The spices all combine beautifully in this very even, balanced brew.
Overall: I kept sniffing, swirling, and tasting. After each time I tried it I said: My God, this is incredible. I got more and more out of the this beer with every taste. I will pick up a six pack and investigate this phenomenal brew some more. Highly recommended.

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle from Jís in Thomasville. Clear deep brown pour with a bubbly tan head that fades quickly. Aroma of smoked ancho chiles, cinnamon spice, peppers with lighter notes of chocolate and roast. Flavor is pretty similar with a medium body and a decent amount of peppers shinning through and hiding everything else. Not bad.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle. Pours clear brown with no head to speak of. The aroma has tons of chocolate, tons of cinnamon, clove, more spices. The taste is a nice mix of chocolate, cinnamon, nd then a spicy, pepper finish.

Brown sugar toasted wood molasses. Spicy chipoltle. This could go on and on... My taste buds are on fire. A meal? Maybe some dessert? A fine ale for any occasion.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Murky brown with a two-finger-wide head that sticks around. Aroma is of caramel, chocolate, pepper, and spice. The flavor is much like the aroma with notes of gingerbread and other spices thrown in. Finish seems subdued but the spice builds up on you. Interesting.

2.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 10/20
Had this at a BOSS tasting thanks to Brent. Stuff is nasty. I could hardly get it down. Yes it is mole and cocoa and spicy. I like all three but not in a beer. Yuck.
