COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Coconut Curry Hefeweizen has been pouring down the history of American Home Brewing for many years, from the legendary Charlie Papazian to the 2010 National Homebrewer, Remi Bonnart. The latter helped New Belgium brew this hazy, straw-colored gem to life. The aroma is bold and big with coconut and curry tones and a hint of banana from the hefe yeast. With a vast spice list of cinnamon, coriander, fenugreek, ginger, kaffir lime, and cayenne pepper this beer carries a bit of heat but the alcohol soothes the finish. Coconut Curry Hefe will leave an inquisitive smile on the drinkerís mug.

22oz bottle in a stem glass. Pours hazy golden with a lacy, white head. Aroma of spices and ginger and weirdness, some light banana notes, light malts and wheat. Flavor the same, mainly the weirdness and ginger. Average texture. Not good.

"The other spices definitely take a back seat to the coconut and curry. More heat and this could be a wheat version of the stout Indra Kunindra. Absolutely loved the aftertaste. 8% doesnít show at all except as a bigger body than most wheats. Really nice change of direction. If you dig curry, youíll like this."

UPDATED: NOV 7, 2014 Bottle: Super hazy, dim yellow body with floating sediment all around; foamy white head is reduced instantly to a thin ring. Looks like chunks of coconut in my glass... Dafuq. Aroma of coconut suntan lotion & plastic. Weird off-putting smell. Light spices, maybe, but they are all indiscernible. Very, very faint banana taffy under the plastic. Taste is spiced curry, coconut milk, ginger, with a huge medicinal off-tone. Staunch yeasty flavor, but not the lovely hefe yeast like youíd expect. Phenolic & gross. This beer sucks ass.

On tap at Brews Brothers in Middleton, WI - Pours hazy golden with a filmy white head. Nose is ginger and clove with a light wheat base. Taste is lots of maple syrup, clove, ginger, and light malt. Itís really spicy, but itís pretty tasty. Too much maple syrup, and no hefe notes at all.

I like this one. I shared with family )and didnít have the proper glassware due to being camping). Smells of a bit of spice. Drinking has a bit of peppery spice and follows up at the end with coconut. The coconut lingers more at the end than throughout the taste. This was one that five tried, and three liked. Two didnít taste any coconut. I am definitely going to grab another bottle of this and drink it myself. It was what it stated it was...a beery that has curry and coconut flavor. Nothing artificial tasting. This is not for everybody, but out of the more unique beers, this is towards the top of my favorites.

Shared with Zach, pours a hazy lemon colored pour. Nose is spicy with cumin, curry and coconut. Taste is an easy appreciated coconut curry blend, straight up. Finishes on the same tasting notes, with some banana in the ending. Quaff Score 6 / 10

Bomber. Pours a hazy golden orange with a white head and aroma that has the coconut and curry. Taste is spicy, lots of curry and cumin Indian spice with coconut and wheat leading to a dry, curry coconut finish

This beer is just as advertised, having a finely balanced blend of coconut, (yellow) curry and wheat, with a touch of banana (and probably subtle spicing) from the yeast. Bold and spicy aroma suggests a more challenging flavor than what actually follows. . Feel: medium-light body; lively carbonation; a touch of peppery heat. O: well crafted but certainly wonít appeal to everyone.

Pours a hazy golden orange with creamy white head that quickly dissipates. Aroma is sweet curry with undertones of red pepper and coconut. flavor is a bit of cumin and brown sugar. I do not pick up the coconut in the flavor. Body is creamy but with carbonation to lighten the body. Coats the mouth and lingers after sipped.
