3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Draft at Dexters. Deep ruby-red-brown-black. Big, thick beige head. Odd astringently bitter aroma. As opposed to most LOF, this one doesn’t nail it. Light on the palate, mellow brown chocolate notes. Very easy drinking, an interesting session beer. Light, faint burnt notes. Fluffy body, no bitterness. End of the barrel, maybe it’s lost some of its carbonation. Nice, but not World Class. Lacks much depth, in a pleasant way. More chocolate tones as it warms.

3.2 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20
On tap at 2011 Denver Brew at the Zoo. Clear dark copperish brown with a medium sized head. Lots of earthy toffee on nose with some nutty cereal grains. Taste had a but of chocolate and some earthy nuttiness. Somewhat sweet with a subtle bitterness at the finish. Interesting, but tastes unrefined.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Pours a brown color with a good head and lots of lace. The aroma has some herbal hops and a bit of coffee, some yeastiness, and a good dose of earth and chocolate. Teh flavor is earthy and very herbal, the beer is plenty bitter and dry featuring a nice smattering of noble hops. enjoyable!

3.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20
UPDATED: MAR 1, 2011 Tap at the brewery. Dark Czech-style lager created by NB intern. Pours a dark red/brown appearance with a fairly small tan head. Dull dark malty lager aroma. Flavor is a pretty basic dark European Lager with dark malts, some bitterness, but still a smooth body. Reminds me of Krušovice Černe- dark lager beer with a bit more bitterness than a German Schwarzbier Nice job Drew!
