COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Deep amber brown with a dense off-white head, Dunkelweiss 30° rediscovers Hefeweiss beers through a Belgian brewer’s lens. Envisioned by our own Matty “Smooth” Gilliland, this beer opens with sweet clove and banana notes that give way to a chocolaty warm finish with a peppery tingle across the palate. “I thought it would be fun to make a German wheat beer; we’ve explored the Belgian wheats pretty thoroughly,” said Gilliland. “Since this is Lips of Faith – and part of what makes that program fun is to make beers that are really unique and different – making a big, strong, dark Weiss beer sounded pretty folly-licious. It’ll still showcase all of the flavors that a Hefeweiss beer would have, but add in the burly body and extra punch. Think of it as a Grand Cru dunkelweiss.”

Bomber. Not much aroma from this style or how dark it poured. Really malt heavy and sour.

Has an funky, non-offensive, unidentifiable smell. Tastes like your basic coffee chocolate stout. Gets better with each drink. Has a dark chocolate aftertaste.

The aroma is fantastic with strong flavors. The taste is an assortment of dark fruit with prunes. Also has a bit of smokey wood, slight toffee. A beer for the true beer drinker ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

The aroma is lightly toasted malt, chocolate, and sour fruit. The appearance is brown with a medium head. The taste is somewhat like the aroma with a slight sourness. The palate is smooth. Overall this is not that great.

Poured black browned with fluffy tan head. Tastes of roasted nuts and wheat. Nice malty character with the perfect amount of hops will buy again.

Brown with a healthy, lasting ran head. Aroma is caramelized/candied banana. Flavor is more complex and features clove, apple pumpkin spice bread, banana, and a complexity we couldn’t put our finger on, but was attributed to pepper by a companion. I don’t actually see pepper listed in the description though. Either way, this is a masterfully brewed beer, by far the best in the style that I’ve had. A delightfully chewy flavor that only gets better in the aftertaste.

Bottle. Pours a dark amber with a small head. Not a lot to this - very malty, but not much else to it. Meh.
