COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Eric’s Ale, named for long time New Belgium brewer Eric Salazar, combines a dry, sour beer aged up to three years in oak foeders with a semi sweet, higher alcohol base beer. The resulting blend is re-fermented with peach juice, creating a smooth ale with subtle peach tones and a warm, spicy finish. The aroma has pleasant hints of vanilla and tropical fruit, the wood characteristics are present but nicely muted.

Courtesy of sebletitje. It pours clear gold with thin white head. The aroma is tart and rimmed with mild fruitiness, spiciness and faint dry gravel road. The taste seems sweeter than the aroma led onto with sweet berry fruitiness moving to modest berry tartness and a pleasing level of refreshing tartness. Nice refreshing brew.

22oz courtesy of SpencerDB. Pours a clear, deep yellow with almost no head and no lace. Looks almost like cider. Low carbonation. Aroma is subdued- some vinegar and peach. Maybe even some maltiness. Taste is a bit salty, sour peaches, white vinegar, very smooth; not too lactic. Fairly easy to enjoy.

Bottle at Peter’s 2nd annual spring gathering. Pours a clear gold with a medium sized white head. Sulfurous and a faint peach aroma. Big sourness and some soft funk on it. Caramel and peach. Nice tang and a little acetic acid and a bit of nuttiness. Lingering tanginess.

Draught, New Belgium, Ft. Collins. Head is mostly diminishing. Body is dark yellow. Aroma is moderately malty (toasted grain, cookie), moderately yeasty (barnyard, cobwebs, horseblanket), with notes of apricot, peach, and wood. Flavor is moderately sweet, moderately acidic. Finish is lightly to moderately sweet, moderately acidic, lightly bitter. Medium body, velvety texture, lively carbonation. The rumor that NB had made a peach lambic was not quite the case, but close...I asked two servers about it and neither knew exact details, but suffice it to say that a portion of La Folie was blended with a fruit concoction to yield this mildly sour peachy beer. The wild character and tartness of La Folie is certainly evident, but it’s fused with a sweet peach character that makes it more accessible to those that find La Folie too challenging. Quite a bit paler in color (light peach colored, if you prefer), so I wonder how much of "da Fo" was used. I don’t find this as interesting as La Folie, but I had to push myself not to compare with that beer, since they’re not the same thing. As a fruit beer, it’s quite wild and nicely tart, so...yeah, good stuff.

In short: A very good peach fruit ale with a refreshing tartness/acidity. Very good but not really a Sour/Wild ale.
How: Bottle 22oz. Exact age unknown (probably 6 months old or so). Given to me by RCL, thanks a lot Ray. Split three-way
The look: Clear golden blonde body topped by a very small white head
In long: Nose is full of fresh peaches. Taste is straightforward but very pleasant. Peaches and more fresh peaches, a bit sweet, followed by a medium acetic acid tartness. The peaches and tartness in the finish add a pineapples sensation. Very easy to drink. To me this is more a fruit beer than a Sour/wild ale (current ratebeer classification). I shared this beer (Eric’s Ale) with my sibling Eric on his birthday. It seemed appropriate. People keep saying that Eric and I are brothers. Even my parents say we are brothers. I don’t know why they say that? I mean, it’s pretty obvious that we are both white.

Draft. Joey batten down the hatches you are the man! Orange body. Sour peach woodiness that is moderately sour and the honey character makes it so drinkable. This is one incredible beer!

Pours clear orange, nose of crisp apricot and sour malts. Nice balance and flavor. Not too tart nor fruity nor sweet. Decent sour ale.

Pours golden with a nice white head. Aroma of sour peach. Smells very acidic and pretty funky. Flavor is the same with a nice dry tart finish.
