4.8 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 19/20
I love this beer. Thank you New Belgium for bringing it back after all these years. This is the epitome of what a belgian beer can be. It is a double dubble, but quite different from a quadruple. Wonderful spicey and fruity aromas swirl into my head; the spices are mostly clove and cinnamon with hints of vanilla and anise, the fruits are raisons and plums. More fruity flavors follow over the tongue and down the throat, dark and chewy malt on the palate. The finish is smokey-sweet. You can feel its strength but it is never really taste the 9.5%. If I could afford it, this would be my every day beer.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Served in a 12oz tulip glass at Beer Revolution in Edmonton (New Belgium Tap Takeover) pouring a clear golden color with a finger of white head that leaves some nice lacing on the glass. Aroma is light fruits and yeast with some grains. Taste is a light fruity and malty sweetness with a grassy and spicy hop bitterness with a dry yeasty finish. Light to medium bodied with good carbonation. Overall, a decent tripel style ale, but could use some more complexity.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Rated on 7-13-2011. This bottled beer has a medium sized fizzy ivory head, copper transparent body, fizzy, fast rising carbonation, and one ring of lacing. The aroma is malt, caramel and fruity. The taste is sweet, malt, caramel, fruity, and lightly tart. The mouthfeel is lively and this beer is medium bodied. This is a very tasty beer with a nice warming effect. The various flavors blend together very well thus making for an enjoyable beer to drink and rate. It is worth trying and a beer I would drink again.

22 oz bottle at home. Pours a clear amber brown color with a small quickly disappearing off white head. The aroma and flavor have an overall fruity character, raisins and dark fruits, yeast, caramel and additional sweet malty notes, alcohol is pretty well hidden, but does warm slightly.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
22oz bottle, shared by somebody after Jackie-O’s 8th Anniversary.. Mostly clear dark brown, more red color. Thin off-white head. Couple loose dots of lace. Smooth, soft carbonation. More dry finish. Bigger body. More sweet in the end. Dark tropical fruit, light nuttiness, some toastiness, raisins. Ok grand cru. A bit soft, and bit hot. Not complex, all dark malt, lightly hot.
