COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Experimentation doesn’t mean new. With our Gruit, the latest Lips of Faith release, it’s all about revisiting the ancient craft of bittering with herb mixtures, not hops. In here horehound, bog myrtle, yarrow, wormwood and elderflowers get together with rich malts to create a bitter, dry, velvet-like sweetness worth revering.

Bottle. Pour is clear gold. Aroma of fruit and herbs. Taste is a bit too bitter to fully enjoy the herbal nuances.

Bomber. Nose lightly tart and fruity (peach, pear strongest) with lavender and myrtle, sugary sweetness and roses, nice herbs and flowers, even some coriander-type character. Pours clear, rich golden with slow but tight carbonation, a dense and clingy off-white head. Taste sweet but not cloying, very low bitterness, light tang, touch of alcohol warmth and complexity, lots of swirling spice. Medium-full body rich in malt depth, bright and sunny pils character, floral and lightly perfumed, touch scratchy but not dirty or astringent, it’s just that the spices linger and dominate more than I might prefer. That aside, a nice liquid potpourri.

a grainy earthy herbal brew than finished dry. while pretty unique, not one i’d go back for if there are other options. just ok.

Taster at brewery. Pours golden with a thin white head. Leaves a shitload of lacing. Has a bit of a berry thing on the tongue. Doesn’t smell like much. Eh!

bottle. Golden yellow with one finger head. Very herbal and unique with a lightly bitter finish. Of the handful of gruits I’ve had, this is among the best. Flavors meld well.
