2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20
Bottle: Poured a cloudy dark golden color ale with a large foamy head with OK retention and minimal lacing. Aroma of hibiscus notes and tart Feijoa notes is not as enticing as I was expecting. Taste was dryer then expected with quite a bit of tart Feijoa notes with also quite a bit of hibiscus notes. Body was quite full with medium carbonation and no apparent alcohol. Off-balanced ingredient with low drinkability meant a deception in this case.

Great flowery smell coming off of the beer. The look is cloudy with a good pour. Beer is a little tart but it is welcome.

Bottle. My wife and I were excited to try this-- we used to eat fresh feijoa fruit in New Zealand. This play as a very solid, estery triple with an added juiciness and a tart kick at the end. Extremely drinkable!

First release, in case there is another.
Foremost, I rarely, if ever, comment on the packaging - the graphic design on this bottle is really appealing. Pretty with white clouds and baby blue accented urban outline with ethereal rays pulling me in. Pours apricot with etched surface whites and brilliant clarity. Smells of hibiscus, peppercorn, manure, some sweet banana and some hints of plastic. Flavor is tart, foreign, some bitter, some alcohol, some pear juice and lemons with a hint of herbal tea and a little lotion. Medium bodied with moderate carb and a off wet finish. This is an odd beer, and takes a while to warm up to, but is worth a spin, and maybe worth a revisit.
