Oh my God. It’s not only a reaction for drinking one of Dieu De Ciel’s beers, but a figurative translation of the Montreal brewery’s name. Just ask our brewmaster, he’s in heaven when drinking this collaborative tripel, inspired by Dieu De Ciel’s love of hibiscus and Belgians love of the obscure, hence our addition of tart feijoa fruit. Cheers!

Bottle @ home. Pours clear dark orange with a small, bubbly white head, short retention with spare lacing. Aroma is tart fruit with biscuit malt and spicy hops. Flavor is sweet malt, wine and grape tartness, flowers, faint hops and bitterness with a sweet finish. Medium body and light carbonation.

Brewvival Trip Beer 69. Draft at Taps, Summerville, SC, courtesy of Travlr. Thanks! Pours a clear amber color with a medium sized frothy off-white head. Decent head retention. Aroma of toffee, syrupy fruits, herbal notes. The taste is tart fruits, bread, tannins. Medium bodied, tart. Nice.

Yellow/orangish pour, white head. Aroma of belgian yeast, citrus fruit, sweet honeyed notes. Flavor is tart and yeasty, unripe peaches. Very interesting. if the tartness is something they intended its awesome. Im guessing it is.

Bottle... Clear amber pour with a tiny, creamy, white head. Decent retention. The nose is spicy, floral and fruity. Medium to full-bodied with tingly carbonation. The flavor is tart, fruity and floral accompanied by a hint of black pepper. Tangy finish.

Bottle @ home picked up at RJ’s in Fort Collins. Pours a dark golden appearance with a tan/khaki head. The aroma is intense and a bit of an enigma- tons of spicy yeast, cat piss, light diaper, metal, light smoke (huh?), tropical fruits, and earth. A bit goopy, somewhat boozy, ultra thick and intense tart tropical fruits (passionfruit, pineapple, starfruit), very juicy, toasty malty, a touch smoky, very floral flavor. There’s a slightly lychee-like element to the beer as well with a big tartness than follows the finish. What the fuck is going on here? I was more excited for this New Belgium collaboration than any since the Alpine one, but it’s all over the map and not very palatable.

Pours from a pretty bottle a slightly cloudy peach/orange color with a medium off-white head that dissipates gradually. Partial rings of lacing on the glass. Aroma of funky fruits and spices. Medium-bodied with flavors of tart bitter fruit, peppercorns and yeast. The finish is peppery with a tart fruity aftertaste. Decent overall, if nothing else I learned I don’t care for feijoa fruit.

UPDATED: JUL 27, 2013 On tap at Bailey’s Taproom, pours a hazy golden bronze with a small beige head. Aroma of light fruits, paint thinner and apples. Flavour of apples, paint thinner and alcohol. Very simplistic beer, full of apple and alcoholic liqueur notes. Decent, but too amateurish tasting, and quite boozy. Drinkable, but just barely. 22 oz. bottle, pours a dirty orange with a small white head. Aroma of hibiscus, tropical fruits, and some citrus hops. Flavour brings out guava, a little pineapple, some peach, some citrus hops, and some grapefruit. Interesting flavour profile, with loads of tropical fruits. Finishes on citrusy notes, particularly guava and grapefruit. Great stuff. The bottle version is much better than the draught version I had. My rating will reflect a balance of my two tries.

Very much a ruit beer more than a tripel. It is a GORGEOUS color. Flavor is tart and very vinous, the tripel flavor comes form a nice malt bill and belgian yeast.

Bottle many thanks to Adam. It pours clear amber with a small white head. The nose is sweet..hay, straw, spice, melon, pear, apple, white grape, icing sugar and toast. The taste is white grape, vinous, melon, pear, straw, hay pleasant tartness, alcohol warmth and a touch of spice with a dry finish. Medium body and fine carbonation. Pretty interesting stuff. A lot of tart white wine stuff going on.
