3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
[Bottle] Pours dark brown with a nice brown head. Aroma is straight coffee most of the time, but after warming, some dark chocolate and vanilla appears. Taste is actually a pretty nice balance between coffee and chocolate. Alcohol is not always real well hidden. Fairly thin mouthfeel for the style, but nice lingering chocolate truffle in the finish. Not a particularly complex beer, but enjoyable nonetheless.

New Belgium Imperial Coffee Chocolate Stout
A- looks a bit thin. Pours a reddish brown, almost like a porter. I'm seeing a lot of bubbles. Average looking tan head. Ruby highlights around the edges. This doesn't look like an Imperial Stout at all.
S- smells like fresh brewed cup of Johann. Some chocolate notes, but mostly like an awesome brewed cup of coffee. Smells very good.
T- more coffee flavor than chocolate, but both are there. Bitter chocolate notes with some sweetness. The quality of the coffee is the star in this beer. Tastes pretty good.
M- Surprisingly thin. Too much carbonation, and very thin. Did I mention that it was thin? Also has a pretty big alcohol burn at the back of the throat.
O- this beer smells great and tastes good, but sadly after that, it doesn't offer much. Given the name of the beer, the mouthfeel fails horribly. The carbonation is a bit too high as well. It went down pretty easy though.

Bottle with Carla from Belmont Station. Pours dark brown with a nice layer of frothy tan foam. Smells heavily of coffee. Tastes sweet with a nice blend of coffee, cocoa and vanilla and quickly turns almost spicy. As a non-coffee drinker this is really very nice.

22 oz bottle. Black pour with a tan head. Rich creamy roasted coffee aroma with dark chocolate. Very, very nice. Flavor shows rich chocolate and again very rich roasted coffee, vanilla. Really good stuff.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bomber. Poured very deep brown with a very tall, well-retained, sticky dark tan head. The aroma picked up sweet, nicely-roasted cocoa and coffee notes with touches of molasses and carob.. light earthy accents.. decadent stuff. The flavor found well-roasted, tasty coffee, baker’s chocolate, and vanilla bean at the core.. bitter cocoa and booze-kissed coffee around.. finished warm with a lot of roasty malts, but it needed a little more carbonation back there. Medium-bodied with a slow-ish flow through the palate.. OK feel and flow.. not great, but very good.

Bomber poured a clear dark reddish brown with a lasting tan head. Aromas of coffee, roastiness and bakers cocoa. Palate was medium to full bodied and smooth. Flavors of coffee, roasdtiness and bitter chocolate with a smooth lingering coffee finish.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bomber from Whole Foods Market Charlottesville. Pours a dark brown color with a large dark brown head. Good head retention. Big chocolate and cocoa notes in the aroma along with mild roastiness and mildly roasted coffee, along with a dusty note. The taste is rich coffee, rich chocolate, some toasted and nutty notes and a moderately bitter hop finish. Medium bodied. A little close too the sweet side but just enough bitterness to balance it. No heat. Quite a tasty beer.

4.3 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Starbucks quality coffee bean aroma blanketed my nostrils upon waving my nose over the goblet, inhaling deeply the richness never diminished, fresh roastiness a pleasure to savor, the cocoa kept tapping the senses, whispering its presence, flavor had a little more roasted malt frontness, but the coffee still dominated, the smooth chocolate more evident, very mild sweetness soften it even more,no over annoying bitterness in the finish. I assume some of the reviewers were looking for a meatier body, but if you focus on what this beer claims to be ,a bumped up roasty stout, with definite coffee and choclate garnish, you will appreciate what a gem this ale is.Bartenders, the holiday crowd will love this, not overbearing like ST Chokolat, not over subtle like Youngs,Double Thumbs up

This is good stuff! Smells like chocolate. The chocolate and coffee flavors are what hit you first, and linger, but a solid and even a tad complex stout then comes through!
