On tap poured a deep brown w/ a tan ring and good lacing. Huge aroma of pure fresh coffee, not to dark of a roast, like sticking your nose in a bag of fresh grounds, the aroma is that big. Taste is fresh coffee with a subtle dark chocolate backbone. Light sweet to light bitter with a dry finish.

Tap. Pours opaque black with average, frothy, beir head; decent retention and spare lacing. Aroma is heavy coffee and chocolate, roast malt, burnt wood, figs, and earthy hops. Flavor is roast malt forward with heavy doses of coffee and chocolate, dark fruit esters, and light hops; dry, chocolate finish. Full body and low carbonation.

Tap. Pours opaque with a small, frothy tan head, short retention with good lacing. Aroma is coffee, chocolate and roast malt with earthy hops and prune esters. Flavor is malt dominant with chocolate and coffee malt, light hops and bitterness with a sweet finish. Full body and medium carbonation.

Bottle poured into goblet.Deep black/brown with a slight brown head. Moderate lacing. Big fresh roasted espresso aroma. Taste is BIG fresh coffee with a chocolate back. Not sure iíve ever had a beer with a more quality, fresh coffee taste. Perfect for a cold night as this is a very drinkable, warming beer.

Strong espresso/roasted coffee beans and toasted barley are dominate on the aroma. Deep shade of brownish black with no foam. Massive flavors of roasted coffee, melted molasses, oats, barley, toasted nuts and faint vanilla. Medium bodied with a full flavor and masked alcohol. Overall, this is a very well done and unique stout with an interesting flavor. Iíd give this an A rating.

The pour is nearly black with a more than moderate, fizzy, fluffy, pillowy, and tan head which settles to a thin, pillowy layer and leaves scattered lace. The nose is pleasant but quite simple; very chocolatey, rich dark chocolates, chocolate shake, a light Colombian coffee, some moderate roast, and light dark toast. The flavor is similar with rich dark chocolates, Hersheyís chocolate syrup, semisweet chocolate chips, some earthy roast, similar coffee notes, and a hint of vanilla. The palate is nearly full, silky, creamy, soft to lively, and very coating. The finish is bittersweet with coffee and rich chocolate mostly, and a vanilla bean lingering. While I found the beer very well balanced, something about the beer just made it hard to drink too much. Maybe a bit too much or too rich chocolate without enough hop bitterness? Nice beer but it didnít make me want to keep drinking.

From a bomber. Deep, dark brown pour -- glossy black in the glass, with a smallish tan head that dissipates fairly quickly. The coffee really comes through, although it seems a bit "raw" -- not quite as thoroughly roasty as the coffees Iím used to seeing in beers. The chocolate is deep, dark and bitter, not lending much sweetness, and thereís an earthiness in here as well, reminding me of a wood much darker than oak. While Iíd like to see an additional flavor in here (something to liven it up a bit -- a spice? cinnamon?), the flavors they chose to include are quite well balanced, and while itís certainly potent, it covers its alcohol fairly well, and stays out of the "chewy" category. Definitely good.

22 oz. bottle from Plaza Liquors - Pours a dark brown color with a one and a half finger thick light tan head. Light spotty lacing. Aroma is toasted malt and coffee. Flavor is coffee, toasted malt and light chocolate. There is a good bit of chocolate lingering in the finish. Medium to full body. A very good beer.

UPDATED: FEB 2, 2013 Poured into a snifter from a 22 ounce bottle. Just the right amount of coffee and chocolate for me. Very tasty. It left me craving for another.

The name, of course, was enough to draw me in. Iím not much of a coffee drinker but have loved most of the coffee-laden brews that Iíve acquired. This one, however, was a bit heavy on the coffee (I know itís imperial and realize that coffee was listed before chocolate in itís descriptor) for me. The cocoa takes a back seat and qualities such as vanilla, honey, and caramel would benefit the beer. Just a little harsh and one dimensional. Probably wonít revisit but not offensive by any means.
