Strong, smoky aroma announces loud and clear "This is a damn good stout!" It has notes of quality coffee, chocolate, licorice and roast malt. This beer pours a rich coffee-sable just a snip or two above midnight black with a fairly persistent tan head that leaves some good lacing. Mouth-filling flavor floods the palate with rich coffee, semi-sweet chocolate and roast-to-the-point-of-charcoal malt notes, as well as licorice, caramel, earthy and nutty hints. Downright lip-smacking! Velvety smooth texture has good fizz and thickness, and leaves a satisfying and smoky finish, as if you’ve been chewing on a slightly burnt high-quality coffee bean. Wrap your lips around this one!

Amazing dark Brew. Starts strong, ends a bit fun of mill for the style. Tasty as can be.

pours a mostly opaque dark mahogany with a spotty-lacing beige head. Has a sweet dark caramel and chocolate nose with fresh roasty coffee. Starts with good fullness and toasty dark caramel malts with rich coffee flavor and dark chocolate before a drier bittersweet finish. Pretty smooth and well-balanced

Bottle, a fast pour made a foamy two to three finger chocolate shake colored head over a brown-black beer, the head receded to a partial cover and ring, some bubbles traveling up the sides of the glass, it left nice spots and fingers of lacing as I drank, there was no sediment in the bottle, this drink had aromas of roasted malt, roast coffee, chocolate and faint dark chocolate in the background, there was a little grain and malt sweetness, there were flavors of roasted malt, coffee with some coffee bitterness and faint chocolate, some malt and chocolate sweetness, the finish had a little malt and coffee bitterness with roast malt and coffee trailing, the mouth feel was more than medium with a nice touch of creaminess, and it had average carbonation, this beer was a nice combination of roasted malt, coffee and chocolate, there was some coffee bitterness that adds a nice touch to this drink, the coffee bitterness grew a bit as the beer warmed but it was not over bearing, a good Impy.

This is one of the best of the series I have had. Poor is dark and has a nice tan head. Aroma is rich and full of coffee and chocolate. Full of bitter notes like dark chocolate and cold coffee. Finsh is clean lite.

Bottle shared at GNBC meeting: Poured deep black with brown edges, the head was light brown tan. Aroma was strong roasted coffee and dark chocolate. The taste was similar with chocolate malts and coffee bean.

Bottle. Pours black/brown color with dark beige head of froth that displayed decent lacing throughout Aroma was roasted malts, coffee grounds, touch of burnt coffee, bit of creaminess as well. Flavor was similar with a lingering earthy hop bit. and some dark chocolate. Soft palate with a semi creamy finish. I found this to be quite enjoyable. Not too dominant in any one sense.

Bottle: Pours a very dark brown with a finger of creamy brown head. I love a good coffee beer and man this aroma is intense... rich, roasted espresso notes and very light chocolate. After a few sips (throughout the entire glass really) it is good news the coffee flavor isn’t as intense as the aroma suggests. Still, a very good quality coffee flavor, roast, light bittersweetness, and cocoa work together well. Nice feel, soft and silky. Makes me long for this in a smaller format... solid brew.
