Deep burnished gold with a slight haze, Le Fleur Misseur opens with pineapple, clove and honey notes. Dry-hopping produces a flower leaf aroma supported by tones of fresh bread and honey. Le Fleur finishes dry and slightly herbal. Produced for New Belgium coworkers to celebrate our 15th anniversary, Le Fleur has roots in the earliest days of our history. In 1988 founder Jeff Lebesch sat weary on the side of a Belgian road when a young lad passing by picked a delicate yellow flower and offered it to Jeff. “Le Fleur, Misseur?” Jeff misspelled the boy’s comment in his journal as he accepted the offering. A treasured memory, a beer to treasure. Brewed in honor of the New Belgium’s 15th anniversary. It is a tip of the hat to Orval.

On tap at O’briens. Pours with an orange-gold body topped by a medium thick, white head with a good amount of lacing. It’s slightly bitter with a hint of sweetness with a very very slight hint of brett/horseblanket, but, it’s hardly noticable. Not a whole lot of flavor at all. Light to medium bodied and dry.

On tap at Churchill’s in San Marcos, CA--Poured a straw copper body with a thin white head. Gritty, earthy, nutty, caramel nose. Flavor reminiscent of Fat Tire which I do not enjoy. Not sour or tart enough. Not my favorite, but ok. Orval would not be pleased with this.

Light yellow color and aroma of light citrus and flowers. Slight apple, ginger, soda, sweetness...relatively light and easy and tasty.

At Dr. Bill’s. Hazy yellow with thin white head. Dusty farmhouse aromas, also pineapple and grapefruit rind. The body is a little thin and does not do the spectacular nose justice but the beer is still nicely dry.

Drat at Liar’s Club. I really enjoyed this one. Floral aromas with hints of honeysuckle and lavender. Flavors were similar with floral notes and more sweet lavender. Very interesting flavor complexity. Spicy and peppery. Fruity and yummy. I liked it more than I had expected.

ON tap at Liar’s club. Hazy orange with a fizzy white head. Sweet fruity slightly bready aroma and taste with a nice crisp citrus taste and a dry finish, but no Orval.

UPDATED: MAY 4, 2008 On-tap at Churchill’s. Pours hazy yellow with a crisp white head, good lace, decent retention. Smells light fruity and sweet. Taste is alright, some sweet fruits, peach maybe, followed by some crisp maltiness. Pretty bland flavor actually. Thin body, super crisp carbonation.

Tasted at Dr. Bills. Very dry. Light yellow color. Tons of carbonation. Too dry for me.

On tap at Liar’s Club in Alpine. What a great little treat to have in the presence of all of those Belgians that were visiting from out of town. Good flavor with some peppery spice. Very smooth and creamy.
