COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Deep burnished gold with a slight haze, Le Fleur Misseur opens with pineapple, clove and honey notes. Dry-hopping produces a flower leaf aroma supported by tones of fresh bread and honey. Le Fleur finishes dry and slightly herbal. Produced for New Belgium coworkers to celebrate our 15th anniversary, Le Fleur has roots in the earliest days of our history. In 1988 founder Jeff Lebesch sat weary on the side of a Belgian road when a young lad passing by picked a delicate yellow flower and offered it to Jeff. “Le Fleur, Misseur?” Jeff misspelled the boy’s comment in his journal as he accepted the offering. A treasured memory, a beer to treasure. Brewed in honor of the New Belgium’s 15th anniversary. It is a tip of the hat to Orval.

UPDATED: MAY 4, 2008 On-tap at Churchill’s. Pours hazy yellow with a crisp white head, good lace, decent retention. Smells light fruity and sweet. Taste is alright, some sweet fruits, peach maybe, followed by some crisp maltiness. Pretty bland flavor actually. Thin body, super crisp carbonation.

On tap at Liar’s Club in Alpine. What a great little treat to have in the presence of all of those Belgians that were visiting from out of town. Good flavor with some peppery spice. Very smooth and creamy.

Tasted 2/29/08. 750ml bottle, 2007 edition. Heady citrus earthy hop white caverous head. Quickly dissipating head. Musty oaky and smooth. Good effervescence. Smooth, so smooth. Big and fruity. Fresh yet melded. Flavors of citrus and red berries. Touch cereal grains. Good dry and musty. Cinnamon peppery and spicy. So much smoother than the other Sours. So much milder. Touch bready yeast. Easy with a great flavor. What an opportunity! Thanks to Ryan from NBB for this total treat!

On tap at the brewery. Pours thickly to a sunny hue of dandelion. Aroma is soft and crisp with earthy floral touches and spicy herbal sensations overlaying a very mild tartness. Citrus peels, white bread, and lavender. Not extremely complex, but balanced on the on the thinnest of threads. Quite lovely. Flavor is very floral and sparkly with a big, barren, earthy dryness of hay and horse lingering underneath. White fruit and understated tartness, like a young Orval in delicate balance of fairly simple bitterness and dry funkiness. Palate is a bit sharp but softens with a bit of swirl and has a pleasant, smooth doughiness throughout; finishes with bitter herbs and very lengthy. A charming, refreshing experience.

8th Big Beers, Belgians, and Barleywines. Pours clear light yellow with a small, fizzy, white head, diminishing with fair lacing. Aroma is average malt (hay, straw), light hops (flowers, grass), average yeast (dough, earth) with notes of pear. Light bodied, thin texture, soft carbonation, and a chalky finish. Average duration, light sweetness, acidity, and bitterness.

Crystal clear pale gold with a huge mousse like head. Lightly tart honey and green apple aroma with broken sapling ( if you know that smell). Clean, tart apple flavor. Mildly sweet. Slightly tannic finish. Has funky retro nasal notes. Nice beer. If it is trying to duplicate Orval, it lacks the hop character and lactic presence.
