Le Terroir is a French term meaning ‘Of the Earth.’ Used to reference the environmental conditional that affect the brew, we like to think about the terroir of our foeders. These wooden barrels age our sour beer in varying temperatures, humidity and vibrations. The terroir of New Belgium, so to speak. Add in another variable by dry-hopping with peachy, mango-like Amarillo hops, and we created a beer that changes every time we brew it.

650 mL bottle. Hazy orange. Medium white head that doesn’t last. Smells tropical and hoppy. Acidic. A little doughy. Tastes pleasantly tart. Less hoppy. More of the Belgian maltiness. Stone fruit and a bit of mineral flavor. Medium body. Crisp. Well carbonated. Love these dry hopped sours.

Bottle from Total Wine. Murky orange with ring and a little lace. Orange leather wood polish funk aroma. Very woody orange tart orange leather funk with some range bitterness. A little watery. Must be old. Not pleasant. I think I am souring on sour beers a little.

Rating #1312 - 04.11.2014. Clear golden pour (bit of a reddish tinge maybe, or just odd lighting in my buddy’s kitchen) with a sticky white foam that bubbles away fairly quick. Wondrous aromas of peach, mango, funk. Palate is sticky bubble gum sweetness, and the sourness of the brett comes in with some glorious dry amarillo bitterness. A gem, indeed.

Bottle shared at a sour tasting. Thanks Jon! Pours a clear-ish orange with a one-finger off-white head that lingers for a bit then dissipates. Lots of bright tropical fruit on the nose with nice peach undertones. As it warms more gooseberry comes out. Tart on the palate but not overly so with some light pine and grassy flavors that come out. Finishes tart with a hint of bitterness. Well-balanced hoppy, tart beer.

Bottle, thanks Jon. Nice aroma, light vegetables though. Gooseberries, sourness, grapefruit. Light carbonation.

Poured into a wine glass showing translucent dry orange peel and sparse white foam. The nose is pine and cannabis forward with big bright tropical fruit flavors of mango, pineapple, and citrus fruits upon warming up. The palate is moderately tart and moderately hop forward. Strong mango undertones throughout the beer without being too overt. Very good drinkability.

A wow beer... Great balance of sour and fruit and grassy and herbal with some softness in the palate. Pineapple, apricots, peach, tropical (mango?) Flavors and aromas with a boost of fresh cut grass. Great beer. Didn’t expect this from such a large producer and a pasteurized product. So fresh tasting.

Draft sample. Pours a light golden orange with a sudsy white head. Nose is tart, citrus, tropical fruit... Some tannins. Sour taste, moderate barrel influence. Plenty of pucker. Honestly I was hoping for more peach or mango presence, but overall this was a really solid offering.

Aromatically exceptional...sour cherry, sour banana, lemongrass. Cloudy orange with yellow edges, medium frothy head. Taste was a bit less than expected, but only because it was overshadowed by the front end. Sour, bananas, funk, lingering taffy, very thin and dry for the ABV. Very drinkable.

Poured from tap at Pizza Rock Vegas hazy light amber pour with a minimal white head. Aromas of sour citrus stone fruit and funk. Taste is similar with a nice crisp finish.
