COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Le Terroir is a French term meaning ‘Of the Earth.’ Used to reference the environmental conditional that affect the brew, we like to think about the terroir of our foeders. These wooden barrels age our sour beer in varying temperatures, humidity and vibrations. The terroir of New Belgium, so to speak. Add in another variable by dry-hopping with peachy, mango-like Amarillo hops, and we created a beer that changes every time we brew it.

On tap at Frisco Tap House & Brewery in Columbia, MD. Very hazy amber with an off-white head and very good lacing. Aroma of apricots, tangerines, pineapple and papaya. Taste of sour Mandarin orange, lemon, sweet tangerines and pineapple. Fruity, sweet, sour and bitter all at once. Medium body and medium/low carbonization. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle shared by "back to skool Jack" at that massive Friday tasting. Big thanks! It pours golden orange with as small white head. The nose is fresh, sherbet, orangey goodness, clementine, tangerine, light earth and a touch of kiwi. The taste is crisp, sharp tartness, tangerine, clementine, star fruit, white grape, funk and some earth with a dry, tart finish. Medium body, fine carbonation and. Clean, tart and damn tasty. Nice

Had on-tap at Boat Works in St. Clair Shores, Michigan. Appearance: A fairly clear orange/amber sort of color with only a few bubbles of foam on top of the beer. Minimal lacing. Not much to it. Smell: It’s always been hard for me to describe sours... uh. Funky? It has that odd wet trunk sort of vibe. A fruitiness I can’t quite describe. Leather or something like that. Just that really odd "I probably shouldn’t be drinking this." smell that for some odd reason actually doesn’t smell shitty. Taste/feel: Funky, but a bit different from the smell. The first thing I notice is the surprisingly high carbonation with a really sour/tart note, followed by the flavors I can hardly describe... I just always go back to that wet trunk comparison, likely from the yeast+barrel combination. Fruitiness from a fruit that I can’t pinpoint. Sours are clearly still not my forte, but they’re something I could easily see myself liking more in the future as I drink them. A year ago, I’d’ve rated this beer considerably lower.

Bottle at the big tasting. Big cheers to the homecoming boy Jack. Pours clear golden with a big white head. Nose is sweet stone fruits and citric zest, nice sourness here, fair dose of peach. Big stone fruits and a nice dose of funk are the winners in this one. Not overly sour but balances well. Nice

Some citrusy hops in the nose, grapefruit, orange, tangerine, mild urine, light to medium sweet flavor with moderate tart citrus, more pissy hops, tangerine, melon, grapefruit. Medium bodied with fine carbonation. Tangy finish, some sweat, lemon, tangerine, urine. Good stuff.

Citrus sour with a slighty hoppy finish. Gives a type of sour patch palate without stinging the tounge. Not as full bodied as La Folie but still well balanced and solid overall.

On tap at a New Belgium tap takeover. Cloudy dark orange. Thin, lingering head. Surprisingly floral, hoppy nose contrasts the tart pucker of vinegar. Much better once it warms.

(Bottle) Densely cloudy amber body with a medium to large off-white head. Wonderful and strong fruity aroma: mango, peach, strawberry, grapefruit, blood orange. Medium body, moderate soft carbonation. Bright, acidic flavor; sour and fruity; blood orange; moderate sweetness, slightly dry finish. Love the aroma and flavor; different.
