COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Le Terroir is a French term meaning ‘Of the Earth.’ Used to reference the environmental conditional that affect the brew, we like to think about the terroir of our foeders. These wooden barrels age our sour beer in varying temperatures, humidity and vibrations. The terroir of New Belgium, so to speak. Add in another variable by dry-hopping with peachy, mango-like Amarillo hops, and we created a beer that changes every time we brew it.

This is the first sour beer i have had in a while and I’m not too sure on how it rate it. The aroma is sweet, almost fruity. The taste brings a whole new meaning to beer, sour/tart and malty awesomeness with a hoppy resin. The body is light, with a medium carbonation. I am curious of how this beer was made, one of a kind.

I love sours and this is a banger. Aroma is sour, hoppy, dry with lite peach and pair notes. A medium amber beer with a tall off white head. Big and flavorful sour in the front with white wine notes and a touch of sweetness. Could drink year round so good.

Poured from bottle (2013 vintage) into snifter. Pours a clear golden/orange color with creamy white head. Aroma - nice touch of amarillo’s spiciness, a bit grassy, some funk and citrus sourness. Taste - lots of sour as expected, quite a bit of barnyard funk, touch of spiciness, then finishes nice and sour. Carbonation is really lively and prickly on the tongue. This is awesome and it’s a pity we can’t get this regularly out here in this part of Virginia. :-(

Taster at Upland Sour Fest. Mostly clear golden orange color. Thin off-white head. Smooth, crisp, lighter carbonation. Light slick. Medium to bigger body. Great peach, pineapple, tropical fruit aromas. Bigger sour taste, light sweet. A great balance. Good pear, great pale / tropical fruit flavors. Awesome sour. Some creme. Awesome pineapple cake finish. Some kiwi. Love it.

Bottle share thanks to Homer321. Pours a mildy hazy orange color with minimal head. Farmy, light citrus, tart, citrus hop, more barnyard character in the aroma. Fruity, tart, citrusy, sweet, light vinegar notes decent malt backbone.

Bottle from trade. Nose is a totally awesome hop grassiness with barnyard funk. Pours a slightly murky orange with small white head. Taste is initially very puckering and tart with some citrus and lemon mid palate. Sourness tends to calm out with each sip. Definitely a citrus zest character with some gill quenching tartness in the finish. Very nice and quenching and well balanced.

Bottle at Savor poured by Kim Jordan. This is a good example of why this brewery is great. They do barrel aging better than almost everyone. This is an accessible sour which is in perfect balance. Crisp and refreshing.

Une bouteille partagée avec slovak. Vintage 2013.
