Le Terroir is a French term meaning ‘Of the Earth.’ Used to reference the environmental conditional that affect the brew, we like to think about the terroir of our foeders. These wooden barrels age our sour beer in varying temperatures, humidity and vibrations. The terroir of New Belgium, so to speak. Add in another variable by dry-hopping with peachy, mango-like Amarillo hops, and we created a beer that changes every time we brew it.

3.5 is what I gave the bottle I had in Vegas. Full review for the bottle I bought at Liquor Shed for under $10. A clear gold with an inch of foam, very good lacing. The dry hopping is up front in the nose followed by the tartness that was lacking in the other bottle I had. My, that dry hoppy goodness DOES go well with the sour notes. The dry hop to me consists of tropical fruit; a good compliment to the sourness, I reckon. Medium body and carbonation, it’s a smooth brew to my palate. Nice. Not something I’d want very often, but nice.

Draft at Edmunds Oast. Clear golden pour with with bubbly white head. Tropical fruit aroma, pineapples, peaches, cantaloupe, lemon peels and mango, oak with underlying yeast funkiness. Flavor is more tropical fruits, acidic lemons peels, with underlying yeastiness. Medium bodied and lively carbonation. Super tasty.

Love this. Not normally a sour guy, but this one hits all the right marks. Beautiful pour, hazy orange with a thin film of a head that coats the glass. Fruity aroma (apricots and peaches), taste is full on tart. Dry and tingle finish

Taster at brewery. Pours golden with a thin white head. There’s a definite funky tartness on the nose. Fairly tart and fruity on the tongue. Finishes clean but the flavor lingers. Nice for an American sour.

Of course it’s sour. Actually very sour. The hops come through gently after that which is a little unusual for a sour. Very decent but I’ve had better sour beers.

Taste at Burial Beer. Really interesting and totally unique. Pours hazy/dirty/ funky orange- no head. . Sweet and spice on the nose. Taste is total funk- earth, sweet fruit, spice, pine and floral notes. Tartness shines like a great sourdough bread- bit puckery. But beer flavors still the baseline. Hints of white wine and oak. Low carbonation and bit of a strange mouthfeel- somewhat slick.
