COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Cross pollinate your tastebuds with Belgian imagination and you’ll be sipping this ale while visions of pluots dance in your head. Pluots? A hybrid of apricots and plums that impart a subtle sweetness. Ferment that with a wild Belgian yeast strain and you have a fruity yet spicy nature with a body reminiscent of red wine. Delicious.

The appearance of this beer isn’t terribly impressive due to its clear golden color and small white head that fades quickly, but the aroma is very attention-grabbing with its currents of hay, sweet fruit (plums specifically), and barnyard scented yeast. Initially, the beer is weird and intense in the mouth, but soon all the wild elements of this brew settle into themselves a little bit; the taste is quite sweet and slightly sour, and the palate combines a medium body, thin and very slick texture, soft carbonation, and an astringent finish.

Yellow with a white head. The aroma has a lot of plum and apricot notes, as you would expect. The flavor is heavy on the plums with some sugar and biscuit malt notes. The alcohol is noticeable. Medium mouthfeel and medium carbonation.

Draft - pours clear gold with white head. Flavor is boozy, berries, and unripe berries. Sour and sweet. Champagne qualities, prolly the yeast.

Pours gold with almost no head. Aroma very much like other New Belgium Lips of Faith experimentals - vaguely phenolic, some sourness and fruit and funk. Taste is some sour apricot with an apple-like finish. Alcohol burn hits in the end also. Tart. I think I might place this as a tripel if blind taste-tested. Not bad, but NB’s fruit and Belgian experimental beers tend to run together after awhile, and this is no exception. I’d probably be able to tell this apart from, say, Paardebloem - the sourness is more prominent - but it could be a challenge.

Bomber from The Davis Beer Shoppe. Pours gold with a white head. Aroma is musty/dusty. Med body. Flavor is vaguely tart/sour with some very light fruit. It’s quite subtle. So subtle one must wonder whether the accountant restricted use of ingredients. Yet it has 10% ABV, so there were ingredients. With time it gets a bit tart/sour. Must be one of those beers that’s too subtle for us hop/sour heads. So it does finish fruity/tart/sour, but too lightly. I’m very conflicted on this ale.

Aroma is musty fruit, bread and a hint of nuttiness. The flavor is fruit, juice notes, apricot/pineapple, malts and tangy/tart wine-like finish.

Bottle shared with Aaron at capitol beer. Aroma stinks. The color is of apple juice. Taste is sweet fruit with a little funk

Bomber poured a clear gold with a lasting white head. Aromas of straw, earthiness, barnyard funk and light fruittiness. Palate was medium bodied and smooth with a dry finish. Flavors of bread, earthiness, light fruittiness and light barnyard funk with a smooth dry lingering funky fruity finish. I think New Belgium is becoming the Dogfish of Colorado, just because you can put it in a beer does’nt mean you should!

Bottle from BevMo, Sacramento. Pours clear honey with a purple tint and a thin off-white head. There is a dark fruit aroma and a slightly sour plum and toffee flavor. Kind of a strange combination of tastes.

Tap pour - @ JJ. Pours yellow-gold with diminishing thin head. Subtle yeast notes, with fruit on the nose. Taste is all fruit and sweets, with plums coming on strong. Little sticky at the finish, cherry burn. Medium-bodied, ok.
