COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
In a never-ending quest to create new beers and defy category, New Belgium Brewing and Brewerij Boon of Belgium have partnered together again to create Transatlantique Kriek - a spontaneously fermented lambic ale made with Polish cherries. This authentic kriek beer began life in the oaken vessels at Frank Boon’s brewery in the Lembeek region of Belgium. After more than two years aging, Boon’s offering shipped across the Atlantic and found its way to the intuitive palate of New Belgium’s Brewmaster Peter Bouckaert. After much sampling and internal consultation, Peter and his brew staff created a full-bodied golden lager to round out the light-bodied kriek. The cherry nose gives way to a pleasingly sour flash across the palate that rolls gently into a slightly sweet finish. Crisp, effervescent carbonation keeps the mouthfeel bright and delightfully tingly. Previously 6.3

Bomber - thanks Gary! Clear reddish pink pour with a pink head. Cherry all over this, but neither overly sweet nor tart. Super easy drinking. Nice.

22oz bottle in a sampler. Pours pink with a off-white head. Aroma of some cherries, sweetness, pale and caramel malts, and a light bitterness. Flavor about the same. Average texture. Nothing really stands out about this kriek.

Dark crimson pour, fizzy violetish head. Smell is cherry pie with some cotton candy, oak, and slight plastic tone. The flavor is a bit metallic. But other than that tart and sweet cherry flavor, medium to low sourness/tartness. Bit of bittersweet in the end which is kind of off-putting. If it had a bit more sourness to cover up the bittersweet flavor it really would be a fantastic beer.

Aroma is pretty light cherries are the most prevalent. Taste is very much cherry up front, then it gets pretty tart after that. I really like this beer very balanced for a sour. Really like this offering.

22 ounce bottle. Served in a tulip, the beer pours dark red with a half inch light pink head that fizzled away quickly. There’s a good amount of lacing. Aroma is light and subtle, the brew smells like tart cherries, bready/grainy malt, and a bit of musty funk. Taste is similar to the aroma, but there’s also some red grapes and a floral flavor noticeable. Mouthfeel/body is light/medium, it’s a little watery with a decent amount of carbonation. I think it’s an OK beer overall, but at $16.49 a bottle I won’t be buying it again. Should have grabbed another La Folie instead!

Pours a deep ruby in dark lighting. The aroma consists of cherries and pop tarts.Hints of booze and oak. Rather tame on the sour spectrum.

Bottle pour the color of brake fluid, immediately dissipating head. Nose of tart cherry, some belgian esters, and faint malt. Taste cherry, sour, ending with some malty aftertaste.

Pours a ripe ruby red color with a finger of pinkish foam that dissipates quickly. The nose is round ripe cherry pie, vanilla and a touch of wet musty barrel. The palate follows the nose with a nice round cherry front end but the mid to late palate falls quite short with a wet compost funk that comes through slightly muddy destroying the enjoyable cherry notes. Not bad just nothing very special especially based on the price.
