3.2 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Vibrant cranberry (or jolly-rancher) red, little head.
Aroma is subdued. Some macerated cherries come out but you have to strain your nose to find it.
Not as acidic as a Kriek or Flanders ale would be. Somewhat malty. Medium in body. Candy fruitiness.
I wish it had more acidity and a concentrated cherry flavor. As it stands, it’s dull and uninspiring. The color is the most vibrant thing about it. Now that I think about it, it does remind me of a Boon kriek (which it is mixed in with), and has the same candy artificiality. Honestly, my homebrew attempt at a Kriek was better.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20
Appearance: beautiful (in an almost unrealistic way) clear red, with a short-lived electric pink head the color of cotton candy. Aroma: bright cherries in light syrup, a hint of vanilla and almond, a dose of wood and pipe tobacco, maybe some honey, light balsamic demi glace too. Taste: sweeter than anticipated, with minimal cherry tartness but big cherry character, along with a muddle of stone fruit, wood, leather, and a hint of tootsie roll. Finish: slightly earthy, a bit musty, and quicker than expected. Notes: Was thinking this would be more of a traditional kriek, but it was much less tart/sour, and much more in the sweet cherry juice blended with a lager vein. Drank almost like water, but the palate wasn’t all that watery. Not sure exactly what to think of this one. I like a traditional kriek a lot, and this was definitely not that. But I didn’t dislike it either. Bottle from Roots Market.

Bottle sample at a tasting at Max’s place. Thanks Stas & Vova. 2015 bottle. Nice clear red with a pink head. Aroma of cherries, cherry pits, marzipan, some wood and some milky buttery touches. Sweetish-sourish-bitterish flavor with cherries and milky notes. Medium-bodied. Decent.

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 16/20
Very thin mouthfeel, but a big massive tart cherry flavor. So addicting. It’s tart and puckering...but in such a good way. This is a fun one to drink.

2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
Light ruby red appearance and head. Aroma of sour, fruit and alcohol. Thin, sour palate. It’s not bad.

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Appearance: pours with a large pink head that settles into a small head with a bit of density to it, the beer is a clear ruby red
Aroma: cherry, heavy cream
Taste: moderate sourness, cherry, some bitterness throughout, tart
Palate: soft carbonation, leaves mouth dry, medium mouthfeel, cherry aftertaste
Overall: decent beer, not overly powerful in any category except the nice ruby red color, not very sour or cherry, a good balanced kriek for a beginner to the style

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Clear, dark red pour with the best head I’ve seen from a kriek ale (though it did fade quickly and leave little lacing). Nice notes of fresh, tart cherries, with nice earthy undertones. Could be a bit more sour and juicy but still a nice one.

Keg at Bagby, Oceanside, 14/11/14.
Clear cherry red with a decent crimson swirl and edgeing.
Nose is tarte cherry, light acidic notes, straw, berry fruit, damp cloth.
Taste comprises cherry drops, sweeter notes than the nose suggests, less soured berry fruit, damp hay.
Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close.
Ok fruit beer but nothing to get excited about.
