3.2 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Vibrant cranberry (or jolly-rancher) red, little head.
Aroma is subdued. Some macerated cherries come out but you have to strain your nose to find it.
Not as acidic as a Kriek or Flanders ale would be. Somewhat malty. Medium in body. Candy fruitiness.
I wish it had more acidity and a concentrated cherry flavor. As it stands, it’s dull and uninspiring. The color is the most vibrant thing about it. Now that I think about it, it does remind me of a Boon kriek (which it is mixed in with), and has the same candy artificiality. Honestly, my homebrew attempt at a Kriek was better.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Aroma is very slight cherries with a little bit of barnyard funk. Very little bit at that. Appearance is a beautiful deep red color with pink foam that laces nicely in the glass. Taste is tart, with a little bit of acetic end that lingers in the stomach. Not very much of the cherry remains after the souring process. An ok version of a kriek, not sweet like the fake tasting back sweetened versions, but also not interesting enough in sourness to rank with top tier examples from Belgium.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Hazy red color, moderate sized light pink head, decent lace/retention. Aroma is sweet cherry, light barnyard action, lightly acidic. Medium to light body, alcohol hidden well, quite sweet. Doesn’t have the usual house character of New Belgium beers (that I can’t stand). However, it’s too sweet and costs quite a bit for what came off as an ’intro to beer for someone that doesn’t like beer’ beer.

@ Cal Mar Hotel 16-3-13: Tydlig körsbär med en mycket snäll syrlighet. Inte för söt. Tack och lov.

Good. Really tart but has a really nice balance. Little weak in aroma. Tailspin beer fest.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle. Pours a bright pink red color, clear, thin bubbly white head. Aroma was similar to a dry red wine, very nice. Flavor had cherry, tart, grape. Very well done. Again, I really felt like this was similar to a dry red wine, but could just be me since I’m no wine or kriek expert. Nice medium to full body, sticky texture on glass, bubbly carbonation, and a dry finish. Exceeded my expectations by far.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
This beer pours a clear pinkish-ruby color with a medium pinkish-white head that evaporates steadily to a film. Spotty lacing. Tart fruit, yeast and malt in the nose. Medium body with flavors of tart cherries, floral yeast and malt. The finish is moderately tart with a cherry aftertaste. Above average overall.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Poured from bottle into a chalice glass
Appearance- The beer pours a deep cherry red color with a one finger head of fizzy pink tinted foam. The head has a lighter level of retention fading over about a 5 min time frame to leave tiny bits of foamy lace on the sides of the glass.
Smell – The aroma of the beer is full of a tart cherry aroma with some light notes of a bready smell. Along with these aromas comes some rather yeasty smells as well as a little bit of a grassy and hay aroma as well.
Taste – The taste begins with a drier cherry flavor with just a bit of a more cracker like taste. While dry upfront, the cherry dries out even more, with most of the sugar being lost by the end of the taste. While this happens, the sour flavors begin kicking in with some sour green apple and cherry kicking in. With a little bit of a grass and some yeast and hay coming more toward the end, one is left with a quite dry and moderately sour and tart, but somewhat light for a proclaimed sour, flavor to linger on the tongue.
Mouthfeel – The body of the beer is on the slightly thinner side in terms of thickness with a carbonation level that is rather high and prickly. The feel is rather nice for the drier cherry and slightly sour and tart flavors of the brew and makes it a bit more crisp and refreshing beer overall.
Overall – Well not the greatest sour for the price out there in my mind, but it does have a clean and crisp feel with a very easy drinking cherry taste.
