COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
In a never-ending quest to create new beers and defy category, New Belgium Brewing and Brewerij Boon of Belgium have partnered together again to create Transatlantique Kriek - a spontaneously fermented lambic ale made with Polish cherries. This authentic kriek beer began life in the oaken vessels at Frank Boon’s brewery in the Lembeek region of Belgium. After more than two years aging, Boon’s offering shipped across the Atlantic and found its way to the intuitive palate of New Belgium’s Brewmaster Peter Bouckaert. After much sampling and internal consultation, Peter and his brew staff created a full-bodied golden lager to round out the light-bodied kriek. The cherry nose gives way to a pleasingly sour flash across the palate that rolls gently into a slightly sweet finish. Crisp, effervescent carbonation keeps the mouthfeel bright and delightfully tingly. Previously 6.3

Bomber. Clear red with a frothy pin head that laces and lasts on the sides. Aromas of tart cherry, candied cherry, light spice and yeast. Flavor is the same, sweet and tart. Light bodied, slightly dry finish.

Transatlantique Kriek was the selected starter beer for a series of Belgian Krieks. Despite being the least Belgian of the Krieks in the lineup it wasn’t any less tasty. Red pour with pink suds. Cherry aromas with some woodiness from the oak. Fruity flavor from cherry and citrus but not especially tart; very mild-mannered. Some wood notes but the earthiness is left at a minimum. Fizzy feel yet not quite acetic. A very tasty Lips of Faith offering.

From 22oz bottle to snifter. Pour is a nice and bright ruby color with a very thing white quickly dissipating head. Nose is cherry, wine notes, slight wheat. Taste is slightly sour, then rounds out sweetly. Leaves a juicy mouthfeel and a pleasant aftertaste. Cool style.

Certainly not a bad beer, just not what I expected in a kriek. I like the flavor, I'd like a bit more sourness to this one for my taste ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

On tap at LC asheville. It’s good. NB just knows what they are doing with sours- so impressive for such a large scale brewing company. Pours a delicious pink color with a nice looking head. Sour and complex- cherries all the way through. Bright and not too sweet. Little bit funky. Best one of the day. Too bad it was Cary’s.

Aroma is very slight cherries with a little bit of barnyard funk. Very little bit at that. Appearance is a beautiful deep red color with pink foam that laces nicely in the glass. Taste is tart, with a little bit of acetic end that lingers in the stomach. Not very much of the cherry remains after the souring process. An ok version of a kriek, not sweet like the fake tasting back sweetened versions, but also not interesting enough in sourness to rank with top tier examples from Belgium.

Pours ruby red with reddish head that quickly dissapates. Smell is sour funk, yeast and cherry. Taste is smooth notes of yeast, funk, cheese, and dry cherry. Light body medium carb.
