COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
In a never-ending quest to create new beers and defy category, New Belgium Brewing and Brewerij Boon of Belgium have partnered together again to create Transatlantique Kriek - a spontaneously fermented lambic ale made with Polish cherries. This authentic kriek beer began life in the oaken vessels at Frank Boon’s brewery in the Lembeek region of Belgium. After more than two years aging, Boon’s offering shipped across the Atlantic and found its way to the intuitive palate of New Belgium’s Brewmaster Peter Bouckaert. After much sampling and internal consultation, Peter and his brew staff created a full-bodied golden lager to round out the light-bodied kriek. The cherry nose gives way to a pleasingly sour flash across the palate that rolls gently into a slightly sweet finish. Crisp, effervescent carbonation keeps the mouthfeel bright and delightfully tingly. Previously 6.3

22oz bomber. Pours a clear pink, strange, and settles out to a cranberry color with a white/pink fine small froth 3.5. Aroma reminds me a bit of their Dark Kriek, cherries, pie crust, grainy, pool water, some tartness and acidity, again, the aroma is a bit at odds. Can totally smell the boon kriek in there (which I also had recently). Bah... I bet I could make this at home... blend some NB with some Boon... done. This beer is not as good as Boon Kriek and probably not as good as the NB beer by itself either. I have the same issues here as I had with the Dark Kriek. The increased alcohol is dull on the tongue, grainy, earthy, some off-putting bitterness, pool-water, some tartness but lighter cherry flavor, some light pie-crust/yeast, not too terribly sweet. Medium/light bodied with softer but nice fizzy carbonation, not sticky, lightly syrupy in the finish, alcohol numbs the tongue a bit. I really dig the idea, but the point is to make a beer greater than the sum of its parts not worse... Nice looking bottle though. This is the kind of beer that makes me angry.

22oz bottle. Filtered amber-red body. Pink tinged head laces the glass. The aroma is not impressive at all..medicinal dry aspirin. This sort of carries over into the flavor. In no way would I be hyped up to try this beer again, this is a failure. Kind of like a test tube version of a Boon beer. Disappointing. A lot of cherry, but comes off really sterile.

Pours a raspberry red with a strawberry foam head. Salt water and light fruitiness on the nose. Hard water mouthfeel that becomes progressively astringent. Lightly tart. Fruity and salt water.

Deep red body with a lite pink cap. Massive sour aroma and flavor. ...... my face got sucked insideout. Tart cherry, sugar, barn, more stuff. Cherry juice really comes out the longer this sits. BACTERIA! !! I can dig this.

Serving: Bottle from State Line Liquors. It pours a deep red color with a slightly pinkish head. There is a touch of funk and fresh cherries in the nose. The flavor reminds me of cherry Kool-Aid and a Flanders red mixed together. This one didn’t work for me.

generic fruit beer seems an odd category for this... "Boon Kriek is pretty good in my book, but nothing special. Rounding it out with a "full bodied golden ale" seemed to be just the ticket. the mouthfeel is smooth, soft, and just right, and it leads right into a seriously complex sour cherry flavor, and bittersweet finish. the aroma is a little underwhelming, just like the dark kriek-especially for how good the flavor is. pours straight up red. i really like both their krieks, but am still questioning the frequency i’ll be drinking these rather expensive beers.
