COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
In a never-ending quest to create new beers and defy category, New Belgium Brewing and Brewerij Boon of Belgium have partnered together again to create Transatlantique Kriek - a spontaneously fermented lambic ale made with Polish cherries. This authentic kriek beer began life in the oaken vessels at Frank Boon’s brewery in the Lembeek region of Belgium. After more than two years aging, Boon’s offering shipped across the Atlantic and found its way to the intuitive palate of New Belgium’s Brewmaster Peter Bouckaert. After much sampling and internal consultation, Peter and his brew staff created a full-bodied golden lager to round out the light-bodied kriek. The cherry nose gives way to a pleasingly sour flash across the palate that rolls gently into a slightly sweet finish. Crisp, effervescent carbonation keeps the mouthfeel bright and delightfully tingly. Previously 6.3

Thanks to rustychiles for the share on this one. Pours an extremely clear red with small pink head. Slightly acidic and medicinal aroma, minor cherry. Taste is not what I expected. Very in-the-middle acidity and a good amount of earthiness. Fairly easy-drinking but not too exciting. Would like to taste more cherry in it.

Bottle to glass. Pours a clear ruby red color with a light pink head. Aroma is quite mild, dry, hints of cherries, almost a touch of swimming pool. Flavor is quite sweet, lightly tart, with a big cherry kick. Lighter in body and drinkable. A nice outdoor sipping beer.

Sample pour deep merlot color. Aroma comet through as sweet red fruits and sherry, slightly sour. Flavor is sweeter red wine with light sour finishing notes. Deep fruits of raspberry and cherry, crisp. Flemish-like sour. Drinkable and nice

On tap at New Belgium. Appearance: 1.5 fingers white-pink head, red-pink color, clear, great lacing.. Aroma: cherry. Palate: dry finish, light body, lively carbonation. Taste: tart cherry. Overall, a great specialty beer. Not something I would want to drink a whole bomber of, but definitely worth getting ahold of.

On Tap at Whole Foods Boise. Clear ruby red witha skiff of a head. Dry tart cherry aroma. Not so much as teh recent Chery Berlinner I’ve had. More subtle cherry flavor and and an other wise miled slightly tart body. Dry and much less pucker than I anticipated....or hoped

Location: 22 oz bottle from Hay Merchant, 2/11/14

Aroma: The nose is fruity and sweet, with some mild wood and tart notes
Appearance: Pours a clear, bright reddish-pink color with a fizzy pink head and light lace
Flavor: The flavor is fairly heavy sweet, there’s some wood/tartness, but it leans sweet
Palate: The body is fairly light, with a lively carbonation, and mildly tart finish
Overall Impression: I’m was surprised this wasn’t classified as a Lambic, but I guess fruit beer covers it. Anyway, this is a fairly sweet offering. It’s decent, but it could use a touch more tartness to balance it out. The sweetness just overwhelms everything else. Still, decent stuff.

25 jan 2014, bottle. Pink and clear. Nose is light cherries and straw malt and faint yeastiness. Thin body and faintly fizzy. Tastes like slightly tart cherry pie. Pretty good. Not very tart. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle. Pours red with little head. Fruity with cherry, subtle and a little funk. A nice Kriek, was hoping for more but pretty good beer. Cheers!
