3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
From 22oz bottle to tulip glass. Pour is a dark hazy brown with a small tan head. Aroma is malty, figs, banana, spicy. Taste is bitter, medium bodied with some fruity sweetness mixed in. Fizzy carbonation which is complimenting and adds another dimension. Nice clean finish, pretty good beer.

[Tap] Mahogany pour with white head. Spicy phenols and light funk aroma. Sweet toffee, nutty malts, clove and dark fruit taste. Average mouthfeel. Sweet finish. Lingering cinnamon. Could stand to be a bit more balanced. Tasting notes from 2/2014.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle: Smooth soft Dubbel, pale breadiness, lots of clove, some dark pitted fruit. Spicier than most, less heavy, smooth. As it warms a bit of cinnamon comes out. Interesitng beer, not too musty nor heavy, less of the breadiness and dark pitted fruit albeit it is there, but moreso spicy. Entertaining.

4.1 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Aged a few months in a bomber. Pours dark brown with a medium white head. The aroma is a very great type of dubbel with hints of banana and cinnamon. The taste is very complex with dark fruits shinning through and more banana and cinnamon flavors. The black pepper is very slight but adds more depth to this complex ale. Overall another great beer from New Belgium's lips of faith series.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Slightly sweeter take on the traditional dubbel, a little bit lighter weight as well. Still has the fruity character of the old country style, but toned down for the American palate., which is not a bad thing.

4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Incredibly unique; exceptionally good. This is really a clove-forward beer with a hint of Belgian yeast not a dubbel in the typical sense at all. Unusual and it works!

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle, shared at game night, and tried alongside Abita Abbey. This was darker and less yeasty/estery, but still had nice flavours. It came across more as a spicy brown ale, probably because of the absence of yeast.

4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 15/20
I really like this one. It’s very similar to their Abbey, except that it has a funky twist. The "wild" element is subtle but adds another dimension to the brew. You still get lots of the candy abbey like notes with a indescribable little zip on the end. There is also some faint banana notes under there from the yeast, most likely. For the price, this is quite a delicious beer... you should check it out.
