This wild Colorado version of the Belgian Dubbel ropes you in with clove and dark fruit aromas. Deeply rich and malty, every sip has a creamy texture true to Belgian tradition before it rides off with hints of black pepper and cinnamon from the addition of shisandra berries.

Pint on tap. Dark brown pour, opaque, good lacing, medium tan head, oyster head. Good aroma--alcohol is definitely present in the beginning and middle. It tastes the part, definitely not as good as we’re used to (NEW belgium, emphasize the NEW). Pleasant, somewhat bready with a farmhouse taste. Better than almost every other american dubbel i’ve had. Put more candy in it though!

22 ounce bottle from Cook’s in Decatur. Sweet raisin aroma and a malty body followed by a big funk nose. Dubbel with funk. Different.

Bomber. Poured deep ruby with a creamy beige head. The aroma picked up slightly funky plums and meaty biscuit with some clove and nutty accents.. funky and very interesting. The flavor found dry fruity funk and redder fruits throughout.. toasted dark fruit and nutty notes supported.. finished dry and fruity, picking up light peppery spice. Fairly filling on the palate.. creamy carbonation.. funky and interesting.

On tap at The Daily Pint. Hazy ruby red color with a two finger dense light khaki head with solid retention and very nice lace. Aromas of dark fruit - raisin, plum, berry - with notes of clove, pepper, caramel, toast and candi sugar. Flavors are similar, with malt, yeast and spice notes; raisin, plum, red berry, pear, apple and grass are detected as well as a slight fruity tartness at the end. Medium body, lively carbonation, smooth yet prickly mouthfeel and a crisp finish.
