Yuzu is a strange fruit- citrusy and bold. Those three words: strange, citrus and bold are the perfect beginnings for a great beer. So, our brewers paired yuzu with the sourness of a Berlinerweiss to create this beerlicious Yuzu Berlinerweiss. Brewed with pale malt and wheat this Berlinerwiess was acidified with Lactobacillus for a light, dry mouthfeel and tart refreshment. Hazy and straw-colored, the yuzu fruit brings a tropical charm to a traditional beer.

Cloudy hazy yellow nose is tropical and bitter. Very peachy. Rinds and grassy . nice tartness but too raw for me ,wish it was a bit more fruity. looks nice and nose is really great. 8% berliner though? címon! :)

Bottle:   Soft hazy straw, thin frothy white head, spotty lacing.   Somewhat of an odd lemony nose.   Fruity up front, pale breadiness, malty, a little yeasty.   Gets a little mealy towards the back.   Not as bright or tart as more Berliner Weisse, seems more of a Fruit Beer to me.   Body and mouthfeel are moderate to full.   A little tart wheatiness on the backside, but mainly fruity of an unknown nature.   I guess thatís Yuzu?

(draft @ New Belgium Brewing - Fort Collins, CO) Cloudy yellow pour with a fizzy white head. Wheaty and citrusy aroma. Didnít get much sour. Flavor is sweet and citrusy at the start with a dry and very mildly tart wheat and sour middle. Finishes with a dry sour flavor rather than a tart sour flavor. Not bad but I was hoping itíd be more sour.

Sampled on 1/1/2014. This Berliner Weisse pours a medium to light orange yellow gold color from a 22oz bottle. Medium sized white foamy head, with a rocky finish and nice lacing. The aroma is fruity and sweet, a touch tart and a touch funky. A light to medium bodied Berliner Weisse. The malts are wheaty, fruity and sweet. The hops are herbal and earthy. Nice lively carbonation. Citrusy flavors with a touch of kiwi. Slightly tart and perhaps a bit of funky. Light and refreshing. Very drinkable. Will this one get more tart with aging? Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is crisp, clean and dry. Aftertaste is slightly tart and sweet.

How is this a Blberliner? This was all booze and offensive old yuzu fruit. No tartness to this just booze. Disappointing overall.

Bottle. Clear golden color with white head. Salty, peppery, mild lactic, barnyard, light fruit aromas. Light body with average carbonation. Nice lightly sweet fruit flavor with some dusty pale wheat, black peppercorn, herbal bitter hoppage, mild barnyard___good

Clean yellow pour with foamy white head. Aroma is sour papery with a touch of fruit. Sweet wheaty malt with a touch a tartness. No bitter a touch of fruity finish. More body than your standard bw. Pretty ok by me

22oz bomber pours with a thin clear gold body that supports a thin bright white head. The aroma offers up a nice load of funky skunky sweaty BO, sour yeastiness and then sugar sweetened lemon and lime mixed with wheat and grains. Lots going on but this works pretty well. The taste starts with tart lemon and lime and quickly moves into sugar sweet lime hard candy. Thereís also faint yeastiness and funk in there but the big sugary floral hops to sweet lime flavored hard candy gets in the way. Basically too much sweetness without enough to balance it out.
