Yuzu is a strange fruit- citrusy and bold. Those three words: strange, citrus and bold are the perfect beginnings for a great beer. So, our brewers paired yuzu with the sourness of a Berlinerweiss to create this beerlicious Yuzu Berlinerweiss. Brewed with pale malt and wheat this Berlinerwiess was acidified with Lactobacillus for a light, dry mouthfeel and tart refreshment. Hazy and straw-colored, the yuzu fruit brings a tropical charm to a traditional beer.

Pours a clear golden yellow worth lots of bubbly white dissipating head and no lace. Aroma is metallic tartness and faint lemon. Taste is what and lemon with a slight tartness. Kind of weak and disappointing, except the abv.

Keg @ WF Charlottesville. Gold pour with a small white head. The nose is mellow citrus, mango. Cotton candy. Light chalky tart flavor. Meaty mango. Dusty lemon. Growing heat in the finish. Light body, fine carb. Overall, pretty meh-inducing.

Bottle. Pours with a crystal clear, pale yellow hued body with a large and lasting white head. Aromas are of floral citrus, yuzu, tamarind and potpourri. Lightly lactic, medium maltiness, Mild phenolic spice. Flavors are of grainy sweetness, lightly biscuity, mild lactic acid. Not too compelling as anything remotely called a berliner (by itself), but the yuzu’s light sourness and complex citrus and floral character saves it (at least to make it interesting enough to drink). Some alcohol definitely felt on the back of the palate. Mild spice as well. Slightly thicker bodied than I would like but with good carbonation.

Tasted on 9/15/13 from a capped 650mL bomber bottle purchased at Midtown. Pours clear straw with an average white head that recedes rather quickly to thin lace. The nose is lightly sweet tropical fruit and nicely tart with an interesting citrus aroma, and a touch of sour mash wheat malt as well. The flavor is the same, starting off with a sweet, tropical fruit note, moving to the tartness that comes from both the strange citrus fruit and the sour wheat malt. The body is almost full and somewhat sticky, with lively, stinging carbonation and a long fruity and tart finish.

Pours hazy golden straw with a thin diminishing white head, fine clinging lacing. Aromas of citrus fruit, sour dough, and grass. Thin body, velvety smooth. Mildly sweet, medium tart, mild bitter finish. Drinkable and smooth. Higher gravity and less sour than any berliner weisses I’ve had before.

Aromas of egg white and lemon meld to create a stomach churning massacre of a beer. Putrid. Flavors of old tooth plaque and citrus. Stay away. Far away.

Bottle. Hazy straw yellow with a short, bubbly white head. Aroma is sweet with ripe fruit notes, soft wheat, hints of tart fruit, yeast and light yogurt. Taste is tart fruit, lemon juice, ripe fruits, yeast, yogurt, wheat notes, faint sourdough and light malt. Body is light with a moderate, effervescent carbonation and light dryness. Finishes sweet-sour with tart fruit, sweet ripe fruit, yogurt, sweet malt, wheat, yeast and faint lemon.

Aromas of green apple, elderberry, and lemony, sharp, citrus fruit, with subtle grass. Slightly hazy, light bronze-gold, with a lasting ring of white lace. Tart, dry, and funky, with sharp, crispy, fruity flavors of apple, melon, and white peach. Light bodied, crispy, and very clean, especially considering the ABV.

Looking for a sour that's not sour? This is it. Light pee yellow nice lacing. Sour is light and lacks serious tartness. My guess is from the yuzu ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
