Bottle. Pours yellow with white head. Smells pineapple, dough, licorice. Has a very crazy flavor, very fruity, slight spice to it...light. Has a touch of that banana-ey Belgian taste to it, just a hint. Earthy, fruity, light. Good.

3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
First exposure to yuzu. This is an interesting beer--more like a typical wheat than anything else. Pours a cloudy, light gold with minimal head. Aroma of fruit esters and wheat. Flavor is quite tart, with a lot of lemon to it, along with sour banana. Itís a refreshing sort of beer--more of a summer draught.

Out of the bottle: Bright and brassy golden yellow with a good amount of white foam that subsides after a minute or two. Itís got a heavy wheat aroma with some syrupy pear and grapefruit-ish notes, some caramel and barnyard funk. Quick, bitter toasty wheat opening, almost tastes like orange-pineapple, the sourness adds brightness but shoots through quickly. Some orange and funky bitterness linger, with bright (not fizzy) carbonation opening up caramel and syrupy fruit. itís delicious, just shy of sour; I say refreshing, given the 8% alcohol. Yuzu definitely comes through. Personally, my only other notable exposure to Yuzu is in ponzu sauce, where it marries wonderfully with earthy and salty soy. I think itís a very natural, though unique, pairing with wheat. Sat on this for about 3 months after purchase, in September.

3.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20
Slightly hazy golden coloured body with a non-existent white head - no movement at all. Aroma of nice sour grapes, yeast, wheat, lemons, pears and a mouth-watering sour note like a gueuze. Medium-bodied; Assertive fruit flavour with a lot of alcohol, wheat, pears, barnyard funk and a little coriander seed. Aftertaste shows some depth, a touch of the sour notes, but mainly an over-alchoholed, wheatie and slightly fruit finish. Overall, I donít like the imperial berliner weisse style - this isnít terribly refreshing, due to its thicker, viscous body and the fruit doesnít work so well in this one as a result. Still neat to sample, but not really worth finding nor paying a lot of money for. I sampled this 65 cL bottle purchased from Arrowine in Arlington, Virginia on 12-September-2013 fro US$8.99 sampled at home in Washington on 14-December-2013.

Had a few times on tap @ Nobi .. . The smell is intoxicating, well- its kinda weird. It smells exactly like south african beef jerky (biltong) .. . Quite sweet, very well masked alcohol .. . I loved this beer, but if you are looking for even a hint of a typical berlinner weisse type beer. This aint it .. . . .thug life has got nothing on beard life!

2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Pours a slightly hazy yellow with basically no head. The Ichang Papeda really shines in this one! Yet another Lips of Faith offering that just seems off . Tastes like a citrus train-wreck. Tastes more like some sort of juice concoction than a beer. Still havenít won me over with this series NB.

Tap at Fiddlers, NW Harvest Auction night 2013
Just when Iíve decided to stop wasting my time, money, calories, and alcohol consumption on NB Lips of Faith series beers, one comes along on tap that tastes pretty nice in that first taster sip. Cloudy pour, a training-wheels sour. Wheaty, mild citrus, lactobaccilus. Entirely drinkable as a first beer, but a bit disappointing when following a good dry pils. Why is this 8%? It should be more like 4% given the style (imperial berlinnerweisse? Give me a break!) and what for all that is going on.

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20
This beer was disappointing. The finish is very weak. This tastes more like a regular wheat beer than a berliner weisse. Bottle.

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Bottle I split with Jenny after she found out weather delayed her flight out for another day... good news! Pours a cloudy matte light gold with medium white head. Aroma is cooked banana, tropical fruit, slight edamame vegetal character. Banana, passionfruit, and blue raspberry candy up front with some vegetal notes in back. Slightly frothy, wheaty finish with permeating banana fruit smoothie. No real tartness or dryness to speak of. Thereís no Berlinerweiss here. It seems more like a fruited hefeweizen.

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
22oz bomber. Hazy beige-orange body. Foamy, glass lacing head. Sweet aroma, with a touch of citrus. Doesnít really come off as a Berliner Weisse, but you get that lactic undertone. Sweet and sugary, more like a Belgian Golden Ale or Tripel. Some pungent island fruit tones. Unique and enjoyable enough, but a little letdown with the overall product..has an artificial edge, the yuzu needs a little more of a zesty bite...something you probably arenít going to get on a macro scale. The sweet sugary wheat is actually quite reminiscent of their Dunkelweizen.
