3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
13th November 2013
Tasting at Bruce’ s pad. Hazy gold beer with a small white head. Palate is soft and airy and a little dry. Sweetish candy citrus with a little lemon and mandarin. Mild floralness. Light crisp finish. Not as bad as people would have you believe! A nice fruity zing, just a little too sweet for the style.

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Draft. Medium white head atop clear straw body, nice lacing. Aroma is moderately sweet, kiwi, some funk, light sour. Taste is moderately sweet, orange, light alcohol, sourness. Soft medium body, some stickiness. Not bad, but I agree with RB that at 8% and a body to match, this is not a Berliner Weisse.

Tap at Capitol Beer in Sacramento, CA. Pours hazy gold with a white head. Aroma is sort of citrus. Med body. Flavor is mildly sour, sort of citrus. Different sort of flavor but something like citrus. Sort of. Not all that sour. Decent drink.

4.2 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Draft at Trappeze in Athens. Hazy yellow color, fluffy white head with good retention and solid lacing. Aroma of sweaty feet and belly button lint with lemons. Taste is softly sour sweat socks and light tropical fruit. Delicious. A Rockiesweisse, I guess.

2.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 8/20
Bottle @ home. Thanks for sharing, Jake. Clear golden pour with a white head. Sweet, sugary nose. Herbs, lemongrass, and actually some alcohol. Oregano, yuzu, and lemon. Flavor is yuzu, sweet malt, sugar, and oregano. Not very pleasant.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle shared at Bruce’s in London - thanks to Kenny. Pours clear gold with a foamy white head. The nose has some lime and lemongrass. Medium sweet flavor, a bit of pale bread, faint menthol, lemon, faint grassy bitterness. Medium bodied with fine to average carbonation. Sweet finish, lime candies, a bit of white bread. Drinks pretty good for the ABV.

On tap at Old Chicago Thornton poured a hazy gold with a small lingering white head. Aromas of wheat, yeast, citrus and light lactic notes. Palate was light bodied and crisp with a dry finish. Flavors of wheat, yeast citrus and a hint of lactic notes with a crisp dry lightly tart finish.

1.9 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 6/20
Gold pour, white head. Bullshit example of the style. Fruity and boozy. WTF. If I had paid for this I would ask for my money back.

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 11/20
Tap @ New Belgium. The bartender told me this was district from their previous Imperial Berliner Weisse and I honestly don’t remember the old version very closely. Pours a hazy yellow appearance with a thin white head. A lot of vanilla, banana, and apple in the aroma. Somewhat tart, pineapple, tropical fruity, apple, lemon, banana tangy flavor. Not too hard to drink but too strong and lacks the lactic notes of a true Berliner.
