Commercial Description:
Deep burnished gold with a slight haze, Le Fleur Misseur opens with pineapple, clove and honey notes. Dry-hopping produces a flower leaf aroma supported by tones of fresh bread and honey. Le Fleur finishes dry and slightly herbal. Produced for New Belgium coworkers to celebrate our 15th anniversary, Le Fleur has roots in the earliest days of our history. In 1988 founder Jeff Lebesch sat weary on the side of a Belgian road when a young lad passing by picked a delicate yellow flower and offered it to Jeff. “Le Fleur, Misseur?” Jeff misspelled the boy’s comment in his journal as he accepted the offering. A treasured memory, a beer to treasure. Brewed in honor of the New Belgium’s 15th anniversary. It is a tip of the hat to Orval.

Draught at Falling Rock Taphouse. Cloudy yellow - white head. Very close to Orval. Dryness, soapy, brett, wheaty, peppery, sharpness, crispy, nice hoppy, spicy. Lovely.

On tap at the Falling Rock Tap House in Denver, hazy blonde hue, with a white head, nice floral herbal nose of dandelion, with a mild funky yeastiness accent, with a bready dough, light fruity pear, citrusy, with an earthy hop leafy aroma follows through on a medium-bodied palate with a nice apple sourness, wet oaky, funky, yeasty character, with a faint lemon tartness, with a spicy flowery hop accent, with a hint of juicy brett, leading towards an acidic, lemony, tart finish.

Draught. A hoppy but not overly hoppy aroma. Poured gold with thin white head. Full malt flavour with some fresh breadiness. Lingering malt finish. I’cw never had Orval, but it’s a worthy golden

A solid beer to be sure, but not anything close to the last few Orval’s I’ve drank. This bore much more in common with Mikkeller ITS ALIVE! than Orval. A bready yeasty aroma with some brett and distinct floralness. Similar taste, but without the punch that most of my ITS ALIVE! bottles have had.

I’m with old crow on this one. More of an insult to Orval then praise. Not that it’s not a nice beer but. Anyway, for comparison, the aroma is way grainier, rich and sweeter. No real Brett tanginess but more just a jumbled mess. Some tartness with a smooth mouthfeel. No real funk at all.

Draft @ Falling Rock Tap House. Pours a bright, medium honey-golden color; effervescent; creamy white head with good retention and glistening, fine-bubbled lacing; great looking pour. Very nicely dry aroma with toasty brettiness, crackers, a bit of honey; slightly reserved, but good. Medium mouthfeel: effervescent bubbles; gorgeous, crisp mouthfeel and a solidly dry core; excellent drinkability; honey, yellow fruits, and the slightest amount of funk and brett at the perimeter; a very good Belgian ale. I could drink a ton of this. Medium finish: toasty crackers, light breadiness, and dry minerals.

On tap at 515 in Santa Cruz. Poured into a goblet. Light cloudy gold color with a fluffy white head. Aroma is bright fleshy fruit with some yeastiness and a very subtle funk. Flavor is a bit floral, some phenols, yeasty bread, medium tart, pear and apricot fruitiness, a bit of brett in the finish. Dry and reasonably complex, but no Orval here. Nice mouthfeel with a little too much carbonation.
