Commercial Description:
Deep burnished gold with a slight haze, Le Fleur Misseur opens with pineapple, clove and honey notes. Dry-hopping produces a flower leaf aroma supported by tones of fresh bread and honey. Le Fleur finishes dry and slightly herbal. Produced for New Belgium coworkers to celebrate our 15th anniversary, Le Fleur has roots in the earliest days of our history. In 1988 founder Jeff Lebesch sat weary on the side of a Belgian road when a young lad passing by picked a delicate yellow flower and offered it to Jeff. “Le Fleur, Misseur?” Jeff misspelled the boy’s comment in his journal as he accepted the offering. A treasured memory, a beer to treasure. Brewed in honor of the New Belgium’s 15th anniversary. It is a tip of the hat to Orval.

On tap @ NB. Clear gold with decent white head. Nose has slight citrus with touch of honey. Flavor is a little tart, with mild citurs bitterness, and a touch of sweetness.

On tap @ Papago. This beer needs some age!!! 14 karat brew, bordering a golden lager color, with a beautiful 1/2 inch tight off-white head. Aroma is subtle but displays notes of citrus, spice, and belgian yeast. The flavor hints at the inclusion of Brett, hop bitterness, and freshly baked biscuit. Needs a bit more time for everything to take shape...and believe me, I’d love to give it a second try!!!

On-tap at Churchill’s. Pours hazy yellow with a crisp white head, good lace, decent retention. Smells light fruity and sweet. Taste is alright, some sweet fruits, peach maybe, followed by some crisp maltiness. Pretty bland flavor actually. Thin body, super crisp carbonation.

On tap at the Flying Saucer. Aroma of pils malt, candy sugar, light but present barnyard funk. Mouthfeel is nice. Taste is more of the same. Enoyable, better the second time around.

Bottle. Pours hazy yellow with a off white head. Aroma is sweet, with a little bit of citrus as well. I had a very similar beer @ Goose Island last night. Rather plain beer though.

Draft at Falling Rock Tap House in Denver. Hazy amber with a small white head. Aroma of orange, hops, and yeast. Doughy flavor, with a strong citrusy sweetness and a twinge of funkiness. Very little hops. Finishes tart and sweet; very delicate. It’s super complex but not at all in your face about it. Good stuff.

Draft at F.O. Culver City. I was puzzled by this beer. It seemed like a Sour-Saison-Single to me, with an acrid nose, a tart citrusy beginning and fuller (but tart) hops near the (bitter) end. Very amorphous even while drinking it. Light, though, and plenty refreshing. Almost a palate cleanser in its non-identity.
