Cotton and paper flavor, along with dry apricot skins and a strange staleness throughout. Nose is pale, weak, empty, stale, improves with temperature, thankfully, but I can’t get over the stale apricot skins and notebook paper flavors.

Very lively mouthfeel, perhaps a tad too gassy. The flavor is lemony and has a pale malt sweetness, a soft touch of funkiness, and an herbal, leafy dryness. Nice beer. | 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 13/20 | Oct 26, 2009 Lightly hazed golden color with a bubbly to foamy near white color. Just a few isles of lace. Floral aromas along with pale malt, light honey, and bits of a dry barn granary. Yeasty malt flavors in the front give way to a citric middle. Light cloves and allspice near the finish. Has a bit of a watery presence at times. Also shows some alcohol. Bits of brett show up here and there, but don’t make much of an impression. Linger is light with just a bit of spice and brett. | 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Oct 8, 2009 Bottle: Pours a hazy orange color with a light head. The nose is zesty with citrus and yeasty esters, some light coriander and orange along with a sweeter, tangy maltiness. The flavor shows off the yeast and malts with a zesty carbonated mouthfeel. A little lacking in the depth department but it has a refreshing aftertaste and a clean and citrusy yeasty note. Orval? Hmm, no. anders37 (4796), Malmö, Sweden

Head is initially average sized, frothy, white, mostly diminishing.
Body is hazy medium yellow.
Aroma is lightly malty (toasted grain), lightly hoppy (resin), with notes of lemon zest, plastic, cotton candy, corn syrup.
Flavor is moderately sweet, lightly acidic, lightly bitter.
Finish is lightly sweet, lightly acidic, lightly to moderately bitter.
Medium body, watery texture, lively carbonation.
Not really that much going on, and kinda clunky and artificial. Bears very little resemblance to Orval, to be sure. bhensonb (4406), Woodland, California, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Sep 5, 2009 Bottle from Liquor Max in Loveland. Pours hazy gold with a large bubbly white head. Aroma has light funk note over a lot of citrus, floral and breadiness. Medium plus body with firm carbonation. Flavor is estery/yeasty, fruity, and an overall funkiness. Or it could be some herb I’m not familiar with, but funk works for me. Finishes a bit fruitier than it started. Just plain delicious.
