Sampled @ Brew-Ha-Ha in Flagstaff. By far, the best beer of the fest! Tart Bing, brown sugar, molasses, sour berries, honey, balsamic, citrus, toffee, and oak. So complex, unique, and familiar. Apple pie filling/crust there for sure. Yum!

On tap: The aroma consists moderate tart cherry, light cola, caramel, and sour lemon. It a a hazy dull orange with a small white head that quickly fades to a minimal film outlined by a thin ring. The flavor starts with moderate tart cherry. There are some hints of cola in the background. The finish has moderate sour lemon with a hint of vinegar. It’s light bodied with light-moderate carbonation.

Pour on tap at FOBAB 2014, hazy golden-orange pour with thin white head, aroma brought notes of earth, grain, nice tart cherry, slight cherry pie note into some vanilla, wood, some acetic and lactic, funky notes as well. Taste was a mix of oak, funk, yeast, some nice vanilla, cherry, tart cherry without the medicinal, finishing fairly dry, tart, slightly funky.

Nose is tarte cherry skins, woody, funk, dank wood, musty berries. Taste comprises tangy cherries, soured red berry compote, pissy straw, funk, earthy. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, light acidic strokes in a semi puckering close. Solid sour.

Draft at World of Beer Tempe in a New Belgium globe. Cloudy and ruby-hued, with a frothy pinkish head aroma is lemon, sour cherry, mild funk, green oak, peach, hibiscus. Very complex. Flavor has more apparent acidity, the mild tannic nature of sour cherries meeting dried lemon, Brett-derived funk, peach sweetness, almond and oaky vanilla. It’s as if new flavors emerge with each sip. Phenomenal.

Poured at FoBAB 2014 (Chicago, IL). Pours a nice hazed golden amber pour, a nice summery glow with frothy whitish head atop. Good firmer ring sticks around, laces ok. Aromas are a bit of tannic cherry, cobwebs and funk meet oak, some sourness and lactic elements grow a bit. Some earth, gentle cherry and horseblanket. Initial is lighter end of the fold, some aggressive cherry and acidic zing hits with lemon, firm oak, a bit of acedic quality with some citrus, cherry and more funk. A bit fuzzy and brett driven with nice cobwebs, gentle sourness and citric elements are decent sourness into the back. More dry and funk driven back here though, tannic oak and straw. Solid, a bit weird and doesn’t necessarily flow great but a nice beer.

Draft at Release the Funk. Golden orange color, small off white head. The cherries are fairly subtle in this one, on a soft sour background. Tasty.
