COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Felix is New Belgium’s blonde sour ale aged in oak foeders at the brewery. It is blended in various proportions in many of New Belgium’s sour wood-aged beers, such as Le Terroir and Tart Lychee.

How to tell you’re drinking the Felix version of Love: should be straw to orange / amber in color, not dark caramel or brown. If it’s called "Love" on a pub or festival menu, it’s most likely Felix and not Oscar.

UPDATED: MAR 21, 2013 Cask @ ACAT - While I am not rating this extremely high, I did go back for more at the festival as it was so refreshing and sessionable . Pours a foggy golden yellow with minimal head. Smell is light fruit (peach, tart berries) with mellowed oak. Taste was light tart fruit, a bit of funkiness and oak. Very light and refreshing. Tasty stuff.

Cask at ACAT. Pours a cloudy gold with a touch of amber and a white head that dissipates to the edges. Aroma has light sour fruit with some apricot and peach with a bit of funk and underlying oak. Flavor has a light sourness with some apricot and peach with some funk underlying.

Multiple samples on tap at GABF 2012. Pours a hazy golden color with white head. Sweet yet tart, some cherries, sour flavors. One of the better beers I sampled at GABF. I would like to try again in the future.

Taster at Holiday Ale Festival. 80% mixed with 20% Glueh Kriek from Cascade. Flavorful pairing; sour cherry with deep blonde flavors.

A sour "Belgian" ale made in America ni doubt. That doesn’t mean it has to suck. Its just superficial. It has a sour, soapy aroma. Its a deep orange color. The head is a thin white ring. The flavor is watery, sour, and tart. Finish is a little dry. Not much else to say. But there is a question... why New Belgium?

Sample at GABF 10/11/2012, thanks to Bluemeow76 for assistance with note-taking. Cloudy pale orange color with a medium off-white head and stringy lacing. Aroma of tart fruit and malt. Medium body with a mildly sour fruit character and notes of earthy malt and oak. The finish is fruity with a lingering tart aftertaste. Good all around.

#700! Glad I finally got a chance to rate this one, as it has eluded me for a while now. Multiple pours at GABF ’12; seriously I sat in front of New Belgium’s booth for at least 20 minutes just refilling my glass with this beast. Pour is hazy golden in appearance with a big white head and great lacing. Super funky aroma, dust, cat urine, wood, a touch of brett, light lemon, and cherries. Taste is citric acid, urine, white grapes, pears, green apples, and tannin ending medium sour. Medium mouthfeel with high carbonation. Great, great beer. Really funky, yet bright and citrusy and super easy-to-drink; like an American gueuze of sorts. Lovely!

On tap at Toronado 25th Anniv party Pours dirty blonde with no head and a fruity aroma. There is a tart fruity flavor with some vinegar and a dry finish. Very sour and tasty.
