4.2 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 jrallen34 (3434) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - MAR 26, 2011
UPDATED: AUG 14, 2011 The beer is a hazy light orange with a decent white head and good lacing.
The aroma is just tart bitter wood. The wood really shows off.
The taste is very woody not as much tart as hoped.
The feel is ok, decent drinkablilty.
So-so wild ale, nothing special, the wood kinda kills it.
Re-rate - called Foedre 3 at Toronado party, this was the beer of the night, outstanding, didn’t change my notes but changed the score

Sample at stone sour ale fest 2010. Hazy reddish pour. This was really good, one of the best sours at the fest. Lightly bready malt, cherries, fruit, very tart, leather, grass, herbal, and finishes with nicely integrated hops. Well done, very good. Earlier Rating: 7/25/2009 Total Score: 3.8 stone sour ale fest 09, barrel #3. Golden orange pour. Vinegar, tart cherries, citrus, oak, and some honey sweetness. A really nice sour. Interesting to taste the base beer for the other great sours.

Tap at Sour Fest 4. This was a highlight for sure. I remember love, itself as being quite amazing, since its the base beer for La Folie and La Terrior, this version was certainly awesome too. Pours orange with a bright white head. Nose is sweet, light, and hoppy, with a bit of funk. Taste is a great blend of hoppiness, sweet notes, and funk. Damn this was both different and great. Earlier Rating: 7/19/2009 Total Score: 4.4 Tap @ Stone Sour Fest listed as Love Barrel #3. Pours orange with a bright white ring. Nose is sweet and fruity with some apricot, and its quite tart. Taste is sweet, tart, rich fruitty and overall sublime, so happy to finally have this.
