4.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
This beer was initially served at the Clips of Faith film festival, which is a charity event organized by New Belgium Brewing. Caffe Dolce in Missoula was lucky enough to snag a small keg, and I was fortunate to be at the cafe at the right time. The beer is billed as a Cascadian Belgian Dubbel and thatís exactly how it tastes. It pours nearly black with a rich attractive beige head and an earthy toffee aroma. There is the candi sugar and dark malt flavor of a Dubbel blended with the smooth licorice and black malt flavor of a Cascadian. This is a unique and delicious brew.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
On tap at Clips of Faith. Filtered looking brown, steady thin beige head. Some coffee laced toffee hoppiness, interesting aroma. Very cool combination..the Dubbel and Black IPA. Thick specialty malt tones and an almost minty hop bite. A really great offering, well executed. The malts shine, and the hops are steady too. Great balance, clean mouthfeel.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20
On tap. Unclouded, deep chocolate-brown with a small ring of cream. Mild nose of caramel, coffee, toffee and a hint of green herb and char. Taste is dark chocolate, earthy green herb, marshmallow, peppery citrus zest, and touches of dark fruit and char. Just a hint of fruity bubblegum in the long finish, but otherwise most of the characteristic Belgian yeast qualities are obliterated by the hops and roast. Medium body has light carbonation, tingly hops and a dry finish.

2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20
Tap @ The Mayor of Old Town Foco. Pours a dark burnt orange/reddish appearance with a tan head. Spicy, piney hoppy ,floral, lightly soapy, a touch fruity aroma. Herbal, soapy, a bit watery, fruity flavor. Higher hop content than most Abbey Dubbels. It was fun to try but I wasnít a big fan.
