csbosox (919), Prairie Village, Kansas, USA Apr 14, 2008 It worked New Belgium! I bought a mixed twelve pack pretty much just to get this beer. The Wit, Fat Tire, and 1554 worked out just fine for watching my Jayhawks advance into the final 4 and into to the championship game. I think I even had a couple left over to start the game that earned KU it’s first championship in 20 years. On to the beer...Served fairly cold into a shaker glass. Floral and earthy aroma along with a touch of citrus and a mild, but present, malt backing. Light copper color with a two fingered head. Taste is earthy, spicy, and floral hops, with a sharp bite to them, and a biscuty, malty backing. Seems to me like a highly hopped English pale ale, I actually don’t mind the hop selection and I enjoy the malt base, which is malty, but not sweet. This is a nicely balanced beer and one that I find easy to drink.
IrishBoy (2013), Bakersfield, California, USA Jul 7, 2008 Draft at Seattle International Beer Fest; Nose of very light floral hops and caramel; Clear light amber with a ring of off-white bubbles; flavor of light hop bitterness and caramel finish lightly bitter. bitbucket (1455), Kirkland, Washington, USA Jul 2, 2008 On tap at Famous Dick’s BBQ. Pours clear bright copper with a thick and lacy white head. Aroma of earth and citrus. Medium body and carbonation. Citrus, apple and toffee taste with a bit of bitterness, grass and touch of tartness in the finish. It held up well against the barbecue. Trev (448), Lakeville, Minnesota, USA Jun 28, 2008 Pours a clear pale amber colour with large tight creamy off white head.
Aroma is nice floral hop. Light citrus-grapefruit, some caramel.
Flavour is not as hop forward as aroma suggests. Nice earthy sweet malt presence, a little peppery. Good balance with the bitterness.
Very nice APA.
