| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Oct 11, 2007 Had this beer on 7/24/2000. Aroma is a sweet malt scent. Color is a bright gold with a very slight haze. Carbonation is very high with a nice tight head. Taste is malty odd and bitter. Starting with light/medium body that goes down with a some what creamy feel. Finish is an odd malt flavor with a fairly strong bitterness. I cant really describe the flavor but it grows on you. rotoguru (93), Fort Collins, Colorado, USA

| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Dec 23, 2006 In the bottle. Light amber to dark golden color with an ivory colored head of medium size, but good retention. My glass presented outstanding lace, post beer. Mild floral Belgian yeastiness to the aroma. Dryness to the palate that differs from the Tripel, but plenty of malty flavors to go around. This is quite smooth and milder than the Abbey ale. Residual mild bitter/tartness lingers. Good drinker indeed. oldrtybastrd (1846), Morlautern, Germany/Great Falls, Montana, USA

Flavors are sour, orange, clove and other spice. Not a favorite style. KAggie97 (2493), Ugly, Hot, and Humid Spring, Texas, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Jun 13, 2005 Aroma is orange and malt, and the flavor follows suit. For such a seemingly simple ale, this one sure has a plethora of flavors, most dominant from the fruit categories. Hints of malt keep the sweetness honest. beerinmarch (2830), Washington, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Mar 7, 2005 Pours a deep cloudy orange with lots of particles swimming around and a fast falling silky white head. Aroma has a nice hint of hops alongside a fruity malt and estery nose providing orange peel and spice smells. Taste starts with a fruity malt hit, orange candy taste up front fading to a faintly spicy hop finish. A bit earthy texture to the malts. This is a really nice one from NB. | 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Dec 19, 2004 Appearance: clear, perfectly yellow color, with a fine, fizzy, fluffy, lace-leaving head. Big aromatics, sticking out, standing tall, mildly euphoric, a dazzling spray of flowers, honey, herbs, and minor fruit notes.
Taste: that unique blend of yeastiness and sourness so characteristic of great Belgian beers, Trappist or secular, is prominent here, in aroma and all over the flavor. Mmmmm...nice...I lose my critical grip, and just wallow in the sensation for a while. Good and hoppy, but ever-so lightly so. Exquisitely smooth, but hardly simple. Perfect balance. A great every-day beer, for those with elevated souls.

| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Oct 28, 2004 Altough I tend to select a dubbel or trippel when in the mood for a Belgian-style ale, this single version is quite impressive. A somewhat smoky overtone in the aroma, and a smmoth dry finish. Recommended for those who find that a dubbel is a bit too much on the palate.
