What’s that bite of tartness doing in a pumpkin beer? Adding the unexpected kick of cranberry juice to brighten this traditionally spiced seasonal ale. PUMPKICK is brewed with plenty of pumpkin juice, cinnamon, nutmeg, and allspice, but it’s the cranberries and touch of lemongrass that send your tastebuds sailing.

I wasn’t expecting much from this one...but what a pleasant surprise. Pours a burnt orange with slight head retention. Nice lacing throughout with a beautiful autumn burnt orange color. Aroma was pumpkin, nutmeg, spices, and cranberry. Taste was slightly complex, sweet, tart, slight bitterness. Very enjoyable!

New Belgian’s pumpkin beer is a departure from the norm in the world of pumpkin beers. At first blush the hazy brown pour an ring of off-white head seem familiar, but a whaft of fresh pumpkin meat, rather than pumpkin pie spices, shows a different approach. The pumpkin itself takes center stage, while nutmeg and allspice follow on afterwards. The cranberry component shows itself as a rather tart dry finish.

Pours a hazy orange amber color with a thick tan head that slowly dissipates and leaves nice lacing. Aroma is pumpkin, and allspice. Taste has the same pumpkin flavor with mild spice profile. Finish is semi-sweet with a slight tartness of fruit that gives a little kick.

9/17/2015: Good malt and pumpkin sweetness balanced by a dry finish from the cranbery juice, subtle spice; I really like this one and could easily drink through a 6-pack of it! Bottle.

Pours a thin head on a hazy dark straw body. The aroma is pumpkin pie and spice, cinnamon. The taste is balanced, slightly sweet. The texture is crisp and fizzy. It’s okay.

Aroma of cranberry and cinnamon. Pours a hazy orange Amber. Taste starts off with malty sweetness but finished dry with a lingering bitterness infused with cranberry. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Sampled on draft at 3R6P this beer poured a murky red-orange-caramel with a small foamy white head that left good lacing. The aroma was nutmeg, cinnamon and a hint of berry. The flavor was sweet and malty with cinnamon, nutmeg and a bit of red fruits. Medium length finish. Medium body. Solid.

12 oz bottle. Pours a mostly clear copper orange color and topped by a small head of off white foam that quickly recedes to a thin film. The aroma shows notes of pumpkin, cinnamon and nutmeg spices and a caramel malt backbone. Hints of cranberry juice come through on the back end as well. The flavor follows with the pumpkin juice and pie spices up front to go with a big dose of cinnamon and sweet cranberry juice. The cranberry juice is very noticeable in the flavor. Medium bodied but a touch thin with balanced carbonation that leads to a lengthy cinnamon spice finish. Decent pumpkin beer and interesting with the cranberry juice, but still overly spiced for my tastes.

Good label and yoked bottle. Foggy apricot bronze, almond head. Soft, mellow spicy, moderately sweet aroma, not overpowering. Starchy mouth, spice astringency, dry, nutmeg bitterness. Suitable for pork marinade, glad I only bought one. An inauspicious start to the 2015 rotten-squash-in-yer-brewski season... not horrid just not something I want. ABC Liquors, Bull Run.
