Whatís that bite of tartness doing in a pumpkin beer? Adding the unexpected kick of cranberry juice to brighten this traditionally spiced seasonal ale. PUMPKICK is brewed with plenty of pumpkin juice, cinnamon, nutmeg, and allspice, but itís the cranberries and touch of lemongrass that send your tastebuds sailing.

12oz bottle poured into my Elysian Night Owl Pumpkin tulip glass. Pours a clear orange copper color With a medium to thin white head that lraves light lacing. Smells of pumpkin, spices, lemongrass, and cinnamon. Tastes of all the same things in the smell but with a lingering cranberry/lemongrass tartness in the backend. Mouthfeel is meduim bodied with light carbonation and a slightly dry finish. I was really excited when I saw this. I ended up being sort of let down. Not bad but could have been done much better and had more carbonation. It also needed a little more pumpkin and spice flavors. I Might pick up a 6 pack if its the right price but wonít be seeking it out again.

Complex nose with some sourness, spice, and citrusy hops. The color is cloudy dark yellow / orange with thick dun head. The flavors are also complex. The pumpkin is present, well-balanced with the spices, but muted. The hops and the cranberry tartness work together well to balance the pumpkin / malt sweet element. Medium body, soft fizz. The finish is slightly saline. A pleasantly balanced pumpkin beer. Sampled at Pittsburgh Real Ale Festival 2015, labeled as Dry Hopped Pumpkick.

pours a clear golden amber. Aromas of all spice, nutmeg, a touch of pumpkin. Nice spicy taste with pumpkin notes.

11/16/15. 12oz bottle from Five Points. Amber orange pour with a small khaki head. Spiced pumpkin beer aroma, not as over the top as some, with a vanilla kick saving it a little. Vanilla pops nicely in the flavor as well, pie spices, not getting much of the cranberry and lemongrass. Not bad. Better than I was expecting.

Pours a cloudy rusty orange color with white head. The body is light and not a big fan of the tartness

Pours golden with a bright white head that leaves very nice lacing. Smells like nutmeg and cinnamon. Flavor is pretty good - I like the pumpkin pie flavors. The cranberry can go, though. I think it detracts from the overall taste. Still a decent Thanksgiving beer (that Iím drinking on New Yearís Eve - go figure that one out for yourself).

sour, malty with lots of cinammon. Not that great. Over spiced and not balanced

Pours a hazy Amber color wth lots of chunks floating throughout the beer. There is a medium off white head that left plenty of lacing around the glass. The aroma is pumpkin, cranberries, lots of vegetable aroma. I pick up some spices as well. In the taste, you pick up the pumpkin flavor but it isn't overly sweet and there is some spices noted as well. It finishes rather sweet like as if it was pumpkin pie. The cranberries are noticed up front with a little bit of bitterness.

Well that was interesting. Really fruity taste. Probably the cranberry or whatever but seriously this is out there. Pretty much a spiced cider made of beer stuff. Easily the easiest drinking pumpkin beer Iíve had.

Smells like slightly spiced pumpkin, not like pumpkin pie. Slight haze on a light brownish orange ale. Initially it does have a slight undesirable pumpkin spice to it but the cranberry tartness makes it a little more acceptable. Yes, almost makes me think it comes across a little wild. Just enough tartness to tart it up but not enough to make it artificial. Not too bad for a pumpkin beer. Iím not one to enjoy punky beers but this was not too unacceptable.

Sampled at the brewery, 11/24/15. Clear orange color with an off white head. Lots of pumpkin pie type spice here with some underlying malt notes as well. Nice pumpkin overall.
