COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A burly and bitter Imperial IPA, Rampant pours a pure copper and carries the sheen of a rightly hopped beer. The Mosaic and Calypso hops bring stonefruit to the front seat, and the addition of Centennials nod towards citrus for a well-rounded aroma. The taste expands these hops with heavy peach tones and a profoundly bitter bite. There is some malt sweetness to stand this beer up, and Rampant’s finish is bone-dry.

Tasted from bottle. Pours a slightly hazy but mostly clear gold with thick white head. Tons of lacing. Aroma is very citrus and floral. Grapefruit, mango, lemon. Taste is pretty well balanced. Moderate sweetness and bitterness. Citrus flavors with a little pine, flowers and grass. Slight perfume taste. A little more light and effervescent than most double IPAs. Average to above average for style. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle pour. Clear gold with moderate head and nice lacing. Smell of hops, flowers, citrus, and very faint skunk. Taste has more malt than I expected but is excellent; I get mango, caramel, light spice, and more pine in addition to the malt backing. Nice bitter finish with a lot of hops. Oily mouthfeel. Pretty solid...definitely one for the hop heads to try!

Transparent gold hue with many visible bubbles and a minimally sized white head. Potent aroma containing notes of malt, caramel, citrus, spruce, mango, and flora. Full bodied. Malt backbone featuring vigorous spruce, hops, and citrus with bitter finish. Certainly a big boy beer.

On draft at World of Beer. Very tasty IPA, similar to a Dogfish 90. Notes of citrus and pine. Nice dry finish.

Pale, hazy amber with white, lacing head. Aroma is full, strong, piney and citrus, with some floral notes. Bitter, but balanced flavor, citrusy finish.

Pours clear pale amber with two fingers of dense off-white head, good retention and excellent lacing. (4/5) Nose is citrus and pine resin, caramel malt, floral, mild stone fruit. (7/10) Taste is moderate sweet, moderately strong bitter, mild pepper spice. (7/10) Medium body and slightly oily texture, moderate carbonation, lingering bitter and slightly peppery finish. (4/5) Big and beefy, but without the degree of malt forwardness I often associate with some IIPA’s. Initially decently well-balanced between the hops and the malt, with the big hops taking over in a lingering bitter and peppery finish. I’d like brighter citrusy hops, personally, but quite serviceable as it stands. (15/20)

For an Imperial IPA the smell has a strong malty smell along with the citrus hops smell. Color is copper with a thin lacing Not getting the peach mentioned. I get a bit of citrus, and strong pine at the back. A bit of sweet malt underneath. As it warms I get more of a grapefruit flavor to it. Overall it is a pretty decent IPA and good for the price point.

Smells like any IPA. But my gosh! This a strong one...strong citrusy and piney hops. Complex hop bitterness.

Smells like a flower garden with a slightly citrus note. Golden amber with a forever lasting white head. Extremely complex hop bitterness in the aftertaste, great sparkling palate with a medium body to balance out the dry finish. Not over the top in any way other than quality and flavor, just wonderful. Extremely fresh tasting.

Bottle pour into Goblet. Half-inch head faded out pretty quickly, but leaves nice lacing. Aroma is hops, hops, and a hint of floral and citrus notes. Appearance is golden with a slight reddish tint, not quite as deep as copper. Taste is, as expected, very hop forward, sweet and bitter but very clean and with an abrupt end with just a slight soft lingering bitterness. Medium body with a slightly oily texture. Carbonation is visible but not fizzy, nor flat -- average I guess if there really is such a thing with IPAs. You may note I use a lot of modifiers here. This is a complex beer but the bottom line this is a pretty sublime IPA and if you’re into those sorts of things you should try this brew.
