A burly and bitter Imperial IPA, Rampant pours a pure copper and carries the sheen of a rightly hopped beer. The Mosaic and Calypso hops bring stonefruit to the front seat, and the addition of Centennials nod towards citrus for a well-rounded aroma. The taste expands these hops with heavy peach tones and a profoundly bitter bite. There is some malt sweetness to stand this beer up, and Rampantís finish is bone-dry.

Pleasant aroma but the flavor is too one-sided on the heavily bitter pine and has a not so pleasant perfumy taste that comes through again in the soapy texture. Some alcohol shines through on the finish.

nice powerful enough hop character with pine resin and grapefruit as well as other fruits paired nicely with an aged wood and ivy broom straw type flavor component thats been done before and done well here.

Pours clear amber with a small white head. Aroma of straightforward floral/soapy hops. Taste is clean malts with a good balancing of hops. Clean finish and light mouthfeel. This is a decent drinking beer, albeit not as complex as some DIPAs on the market.

12oz bottle 11/6/14 (Courtesy of RSRIZZO)-40į in Tulip-Pours a clear golden with a white head. Aroma of hops, citrus, and malt. Taste of the same. This full bodied brew is fairly well balanced and quite tasty.

The Rampant has a light brown appearance with modest head. The aroma has grassy hops; as I sip it gets more complex, with a light caramel malt, plus a juniper note. I usually find IPAs to not be very smooth, but this one definitely is. Rampant is really a wonderful beer.

I bought probably ten 6-packs of this beer in the last few months when it was on sale at Jewel on 13th & Ashland (Chicago) for $8.99. It is strong, cold, and very easy drinking. If i want to taste peach, Iíll buy a peach. I want to taste beer, so I bought this beer. The next time I look to identify sugar residual in a beer will be the first time. People over complicate things sometimes, drink beer, be merry, have a good time. If Iím tasting wood notes Iím usually face down on someoneís deck or making out with a redwood tree, but Iíll find the appropriate website to rate those experiences.

Purchased at Foremost Liquors in Chicago, IL, enjoyed at home on the Saturday where the clocks turn back an hour. Appearance is a clearish gold with a thin white head. Aroma of light hops, not much else. Taste is decent, light booze with a moderate hop profile. Less abrasive than a standard impy IPA, but overall decent.

12oz bottle - A moderate yet restrained hop presence in the aroma, that seems out of place for an IIPA. Dank, tropical fruits, and some pine. Iíd love to have the aroma pumped up a lot. I noticed a lot of the backend booziness first, before the hops, which isnít a good thing. Yes, hops are present with orange rind, tropical fruit/peach juice with some nuttiness. But the alcohol kind of wrecks things. Not bad for a starter IIPA to begin someone with. I had much higher expectations though from NB.

Tasted from bomber bottle into nonic pint glass. It poured a nice clear golden colour, hard to believe it actually contains any black malt, with extremely firm long-lasting white foam and lace. Very nice appearance. Crisp grainbill with definite residual sweetness, an effective balance to the intense hoppy traits: clean strong bitterness, blackcurrant, peaches, mangos, strawberry, passionfruit, grassy, black peppery. Light-medium body. This kinda beer is best very cold with strong carbonation, but as such it was delicious with a nice fruity aftertaste which finished dry.

March 17th, 2013 - New Belgiumís Rampant IPA is the latest commercial push from one of my Colorado pride type breweries. Oneís out of state NBB choice tended to be Fat Tire, and then came Ranger. Now the Rampant seems readily available here in California, which suggests an aggressive distribution campaign, and maybe a brew worth showing off. The pour props up a heavy 2" head and beneath that, a heavily carbonated murky gold beer with swarms of big bubbles. In spite of the glacial layer of foam, a sticky and piney aroma immediately coats the nostrils, delivering deep pineapple touches and a hemp-like hops aroma. There might even be a bit of mashed banana smoothness and vanilla - a kind of vanilla ice cream and double IPA blend. Hops and hemp make the flavor too, which is much more herbaceous than the nose, passing off notes of rosemary, sod, grapefruit, orange and flowers. The alcohol note isnít too strong, breathing life into the flavors without crushing them. As far as heavier weight IPAs go, this is comparatively mild and light, helping to ease off on some of the gravity Double IPAs bring, while letting drinkers have all the flavors.
