COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A burly and bitter Imperial IPA, Rampant pours a pure copper and carries the sheen of a rightly hopped beer. The Mosaic and Calypso hops bring stonefruit to the front seat, and the addition of Centennials nod towards citrus for a well-rounded aroma. The taste expands these hops with heavy peach tones and a profoundly bitter bite. There is some malt sweetness to stand this beer up, and Rampant’s finish is bone-dry.

Bottle pours a slightly hazy dingy dark yellow, with a touch of amber. Full lasting rocky off white head. Big fresh citrusy aroma with some caramelized sugar hints, like a barley wine. Big bitter piney hoppy flavor. Lots of deep sweetness, again like a BW. Not much big bitter bite at the end...trailing of to a little wet papery sweetness. Full heavy slick palate. A pretty big beer, but not as bitter as most DIPAs.

Small bottle at The Turtle’s Head, San Jose, CA, 27/10/13. Dried apricot aroma with sweet peach and caramel. Dried curry leaf, soapy lavender taste; jam-sweet but with good dried curry leaf balance. Pretty tasty actually. Clear orange amber levelled with white. New Belgium are hit and miss but this hits more than misses.

IPA Glass. Nose of citrus, pine hops, great smelling. Cloudy gold, thick velvet head, great lacing, beautiful beer. Creamy mouthfeel. This beer is super bitter. Notes of citrus. Seemed a bit unbalanced in the flavor department.

Looks like beer. Smells yum, standard, but still yum. Peach to apricot, mild metallics, and gum. So tasty but seems like more of an IPA the a IIPA. Large resin is coming through the longer this sits on the table. This is scary because the slamabilty, I can see just getting totally hammered before you even realize whats going on. I like it!!!

Amber medium bodied 2XIPA with a strong bitterness and fruit undertones. At $4 a double deuce I thought I got a great deal on Rampant Imperial IPA.

aroma of dried apricot, pear, green apples, plums, mustiness. pours a beautiful orangish bronze, bordering on copper. large thick white head, almost whip cream. tastes of dried apricot, and tart apple, but bitter, to start, but finishes with a dash of peach and plum before the bitter aftertaste takes over. alcohol is present. palate is full and crisp, nicely carbonated, not too much. overall a stone fruit imperial which bares the alcohol; little malt flavor, creating a dry flavor.

Definitely an ale for hopheads. Nice light golden color with a small head, the aroma of the hops is pronounced. The taste is very overbalanced with hops knocking out any nice malt taste. This is only for those who like the taste of hops over everything else.

Classic golden color, smells slightly malty and hoppy. Good carbonation level. Very clear beer. Taste a little sweet from the malts. It's is hoppy but not over powering the malts. It is a little grassy. Not a bad IPA. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottled, as part of the New Belgium fall sampler pack. Pours clear gold with a massive and frothy white head. Spruce, grapefruit rind, white pepper, apricots and mild alcohol aroma, with spicy hops, mild bubblegum and zesty fruits really popping at the tail end. Grapefruit, peach, soft leather and pine flavors with a sweet grain base. At times the hops tasted a bit grassy and abrasive, but the sweet fruits helped balance it out. A touch of alcohol in the finish which ultimately ends a bit sticky. Really well done.

Pours clear amber with frothy tan lacing head. Aroma is dominated with stonefruits, apricots, must, and hoppy citrus. Taste is moderately to heavily sweet with an oily bitter finish. Not a the best imperial IPA that I’ve had but still pretty good.
