COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A burly and bitter Imperial IPA, Rampant pours a pure copper and carries the sheen of a rightly hopped beer. The Mosaic and Calypso hops bring stonefruit to the front seat, and the addition of Centennials nod towards citrus for a well-rounded aroma. The taste expands these hops with heavy peach tones and a profoundly bitter bite. There is some malt sweetness to stand this beer up, and Rampantís finish is bone-dry.

Clear copper with a lightly effervescent white head. About a cm with really sticky lacing. Aroma of bitter hops, a little herbal. Pungent. Taste is got some fruity notes, peachy, and vicious cloying bitterness. Delicious.

22oz Bottle A - Pours a hazy golden amber with a off white head. Ok retention/good lacing. S - Caramel malt, rose pedals, & fresh fruit. T - Caramel malt. Mild pine. Resin. M - Medium bodied. Nice lively carbonation. Bitter grassy finish. O - Wish it tasted like it smelled. That said, solid, but canít stand up to the classic Double/Imperial IPAS.

Pours a fairly clear gold, decent sized white head and a bunch of lace on the glass. Aroma is pine, resin, citrus, and mild pale malt backbone. Flavour is resin, pine, spicy, dry citrus, high easy drinking bitterness, and I think the hop oils lend to a nice fuller mouthfeel.

Pours a clear gold with a orange hue. Aroma of citrus hops, caramel, sweet pale malts and grass. Taste is herbal, citrus hops with a good amount of sweet pale malts and caramel. Overall itís a touch too sweet but the balance of malts and hops is decent.

A bright fresh hoppy aroma of grapefruit. Pours golden with a small head with good retention. Taste has a good bite of hops without being overpowering followed by a slight warming of the alcohol.

Really nice with a noticeable difference next to their Ranger IPA. Sweet and crisp with an aroma and flavor of hops. Strong flavor a higher alcohol brings a nice contrast to darker winter beers.

Poured from a large bottle, I smell citrus and lotís of hops. I taste lots of hops and bitterness, it has a very clean finished. Not bad.

12 oz. bottle, consumed on 12-28-13. Strong, sweet, fruity, dusty, bready aroma features celery, pepper, orange, and melon scents. Promising smell. Pours a bubbly brass with a moderate amount of uneven, cream-colored head. Produces good lacing. Sweet, fruity, boozy taste features melon, caramel, pine, cleaning fluid, and pepper flavors. Strong flavors but not particularly delicious ones. In fact, some of the flavors were notably off-putting. The flavor certainly comes nowhere close to living up to the aroma. Spicy, peppery, dry finish and aftertaste with otherwise unremarkable palate effects. New Belgium Rampant Imperial IPA isnít completely horrible; itís more of a mix of pretty good and pretty bad aspects. That said, this is among the few double IPAs I have tried that I would say have any actively offensive aspects at all, and that puts it among the worst of the style I have encountered.

12 oz. bottle. Pours an orangish yellow with mild haze. Aroma of peach and herbal hops. Mild earthiness. Some pine and resin. Flavor is very hop forward with lots of hop bitterness, mild malt and fruit sweetness. Full bodied, some lively carbonation, finishes long, bitter, and dry. This DIPA is well-done and certainly an above average New Belgium beer.

New Belgium gave up a little of the flavor and complexity with this one by going for an 8.5% abv. The Ranger IPA does have more complexity to it. However, this is still a great beer. Great taste and a mild, pleasant bitterness.
