COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A burly and bitter Imperial IPA, Rampant pours a pure copper and carries the sheen of a rightly hopped beer. The Mosaic and Calypso hops bring stonefruit to the front seat, and the addition of Centennials nod towards citrus for a well-rounded aroma. The taste expands these hops with heavy peach tones and a profoundly bitter bite. There is some malt sweetness to stand this beer up, and Rampant’s finish is bone-dry.

22oz bottle, thanks to Mike L. Date on bottle reads 11-Aug-13. Shared with local raters. Totally clear golden orange color. Good thin white head. Plenty dots and bits and short ropes of lace. Bigger body. Smooth, kind of creamy lighter carbonation. Lightly dry finish. Nice lightly spicy, zesty orange peel, light grapefruit. Interesting hop profile, balanced with an equal amount of malt. Light caramel malt, but not sweet. Mostly stronger bitter. More bready malt. Lightly spicy hop bite in the finish. I liked this much more than expected. Really interesting, unique hop profile. Surprisingly easy to drink, too, pretty smooth.

Bottle. Pours a clear straw-amber with minimal head. Muted aroma - a bit of citrus hops, alcohol, and some sweet notes. Flavor is very hop-driven - a lot of citrus, and fairly bitter. A bit of malt helps balance things out. Not bad, but a bit dull for an Imperial IPA.

12 oz bottle. Pours a clear dark gold with a nice two finger off-white head. Very good retention and nice lacing left on the glass. Aroma is citrus, grass, and malty. Taste is citrus and grassy with hoppy bitterness and not much malt present.

Bottle. Pours clear amber with creamy white head. Aroma is biscuit and cereal malts, pears, grassy and floral hops, and light toast. Flavor is smooth hop bitterness with good supporting dry malts and some light fruit esters; dry finish with a little bitterness. Medium body and low carbonation.

From a bomber. Pours clear amber with a foamy white head. Tastes hoppy, creamy, like grapefruit and light molasses. Light body and medium carbonation. Smells like sweet toffee, malt, and a little funk.

Bomber to snifter (shared by DrSilverworm). Looks good; a transparent orange with white lacing. Smells solid; bitter hops with a notable pale malt backbone. Tastes like it smells with some floral. Notes. Solid on the palate. Enjoyable.

Reddish brown pour from tap. Hints of clove in the smell and taste. But not overpowering and fades into a fruity brew that is refreshing. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Somewhat subdued and sweet for a double. Looks great with thick, rocky head. Aroma is apples (?), hops. Taste is hops and apple juice, with short, dry finish. Sharp bitterness remains on the palate. Smooth for a double, but without the kick I was expecting.

355ml bottle. So happy to find this brew in an American grocery store when I hopped the border one night. I love New Belgium Brewery and always wanted to try this one. It doesn't disappoint! 8.5% alcohol!!! Like the description says, it's got it all - sweet, bitter, perfect balance. Great finish. No complaints here! Nice deep head. Citrus and pine aroma. Deep gold (Lovibond 10) colour. Perfect carbonation. Lots of lace. A bit of a stronger alcohol flavour than its regular IPA brother, Ranger. This beer packs many punches.

New Belgium Rampant Imperial IPA has a medium, off-white head and a clear, deep golden appearance, with some tiny white specks suspended here and there. There is a good amount of lacing left behind and a few bubbles ascending. The aroma is sharp, with sweet malt, citrus, piney hops, and white bread. Taste is of heavy hop oil, pine, grapefruit and grapefruit rind, strong bitterness, and white bread. Mouthfeel is medium, oily, and slick, and New Belgium Rampant Imperial IPA finishes very dry, bitter, sweet, and fairly drinkable, with sips. Overall this is a nice one, and I suggest checking it out. RJT
