3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
22oz. Clear golden pour with quickly diminishing head. Aroma is mild west coast hops with a light honey character. The hops are at the front of the flavor with the lightly sweet malts in the middle of the tongue and a dry hoppy bitter finish. A nice bright ipa.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
On tap at the Draught House. Golden-amber with a white head. This is a very nice IPA. I get some nice biscuit malt notes, as well as some tropical fruit and orange citrus. As the beer warms I also get some perfume character. Medium mouthfeel and medium carbonation.

3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 14/20
Poured from 22 into Heretic glassware..View: I don’t know how they do it at New Belgium but..i’ve already had the Ranger ipa in the past, and to me that was the clearest ipa i’d seen at that point and once again they’ve done it. This beer for being an 8.5% abv double ipa, is amazingly clear. Aroma: lots of orange/citrus. Taste: tons of citrus upfront with some pear in the back..nice example but i’d rather drink the Ranger. Still a great dipa.

3.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Clear, straw gold pour with a 2 finger, creamy, off white head. Aroma of very fresh, spicy, citrus and floral hops, nice toast and caramel, stone/berry fruit and hints of tropical fruit. The flavor ditches much of the fruitiness initially, lots of spiciness, some husky grain, sweet cereal, toast and light caramel, then the sweet caramel, crystal malt and fruity hops come in, lots of citrus, some woody pine, a little stone and berry fruit, and some passion fruit. Finishes a little more pine-ish with some crystal malt sweetness and burnt sugar. Medium body, syrupy feel and light, but blanketing and sharp carbonation. Pretty good overall, but it clashes all over the place, too much sweetness and bitterness in the same place at the same time.

4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Light on the color, heavy on the hops...slight sweetness, strong hops. Well balanced for the style. Best of the New Belgium lineup

2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Generous gift from Dr. Humbard. Thank you sir.
Served in my New Belgium globe.
The beer is yellowish with a mild haze. An aggressive pour yields nearly two inches of pure white head. The aroma brings pine, alcohol, hops. Booze presence in both the scent and flavor. Too brash for my liking. Pine and alcohol with perhaps a bit of citrus. A slow sipper. The finish leaves booze, biscuits, crackers, and a hint of caramel malt on the palate. I finished the 12 oz., but this is not a repeat for me.

2.1 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 2/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 9/20
Bomber uncaps with a loud chuff. The first careful pour fills my glass with two-thirds fluff atop pale orange ale (a spectacle which encores with the seconds glass, as well). Large bubbles in warpdrive effect create Swiss cheese pockets in the foam. Grapefruit, musty hopsack, seawater, boiled peanuts, pencil shavings, molasses and tomato juice nose. Tamarind and dried apricot fruity taste with briary-jammy notes, phenolic/minerally, leafy, sourdough, nuances of rosemary, lychee, celery seed and bell pepper, maybe even granulated onion... ending with a pithy bitter edge. Pretty much screams fast, hot fermentation and oxidation at some point. Drier and thinner bodied than most DIPAs, which is the only positive. Smokey-chalky finish with potent ethanol sting; pleasantly bitter aftertaste but with a parsley and powdered milk flavor. Overall an extremely rough and unappealing beer; so many, many things wrong.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottled. Poured clear, lighter orangey-golden with a tall, creamy, sticky khaki head.. looked great! The aroma picked up fresh grass, citrus, and floral hoppage over sweet honey-kissed caramel and biscuity malts.. well-balanced. The flavor found bitter, resiny peach and perfumy hops throughout, with caramel and biscuity malts supporting.. dried out on the finish, leaving bitter stonefruit and perfumey notes. Medium-bodied with a good feel/flow through the palate.. engaging and enjoyable.

Got this at an esbls tasting at Strykzones place in Wood Rive, IL. Pours dark fuzzy gold with a creamy and long lasting off-white head. Nose is mostly citrus hops. Medium plus in body, and smooth in the mouth. Flavor is caramel malts with heavy citrus hops and a long dry bitter finish. Very well done.
