A burly and bitter Imperial IPA, Rampant pours a pure copper and carries the sheen of a rightly hopped beer. The Mosaic and Calypso hops bring stonefruit to the front seat, and the addition of Centennials nod towards citrus for a well-rounded aroma. The taste expands these hops with heavy peach tones and a profoundly bitter bite. There is some malt sweetness to stand this beer up, and Rampant’s finish is bone-dry.

Bottle. Clear, golden pour with a large frothy white head. Citrus and light floral aroma. Surprisingly malty and peach flavors in the initial taste, eventually fades to a heavy floral finish. Average carbonation with a sticky texture. Pretty evenly balanced for an IPA as it doesn’t leave that heavy malt bite on your tastebuds.

A very nice DIPA. Aroma of piney citrus and resins. Taste is well balanced with great bitter finish and some pleasant fruit notes; dry finish echoes the Ranger IPA product line nicely.

12 oz bottle pours a bright, clear orange with a sticky, frothy white head. Aroma is citrus, linalool, a bit earthy, some sulfur and the dreaded diacetyl. Flavor is citrus, more earthiness, and some grapefruit rind sweet/bitterness in the finish. Not much of a kick as far as dipas go, but pretty pleasant.

Poured from bottle at the Limerick Pub in Wheaton, MD. Clear, whiskey color with a large off-white head and excellent lacing. Aroma of grass, grain, biscuit, pine and caramel. Fairly sweet and a bit earthy. Fairly mild and not aggressively hoppy. Taste of pine, caramel, grass, light fruit and sweet orange. More fruity and sweet than hoppy. Medium/light body medium/low carbonization. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

UPDATED: DEC 22, 2013 Standard New Belgium bottle with raised neck collar and the simple label. The pour was very clear, a touch more pale amber in shade than a typical DIPA. The head was one to two finger thick. The smell was mostly pine and grapefruit. The taste was quite bitter, with a burst of grapefruit, herbs, and spice right up front. This was a very dry, over the top, "west coast" style DIPA, and I always seem to like them for their singular purpose as a hop delivery vehicle. This was no exception. There was little no malt influence, alcohol burn, or pretense of complexity here. It was like drinking an enamel stripping, head clearing, tongue scraping, hop juice. If you like hops, you will love this. If you don’t like hops, why did you buy a DIPA. A hop bomb picked up at the neighborhood Kroger. My we have come a long way in this country, and I like that.

On draft. Not really a double ipa or at least by flavor and aroma profile. Decent brew, but lacking the umphf. Strong floral flavor with a nice frothy head. Expecting a bigger hop bite in the finish.

Pours clear copper. Aroma is citrus hops and somewhat grainy. Very unique hop profile going on there that I really enjoy. Dark fruity taste to it, kind of dull not to sweet. Little bit of citrus and floral notes to it. Overall its more on the bitter side of things though. The malt side of it is strange and I cant put my finger on it. Very drinkable for the high ABV. Pretty unique and complex, something different than the normal IPA offerings. Pretty Yummy.
