A burly and bitter Imperial IPA, Rampant pours a pure copper and carries the sheen of a rightly hopped beer. The Mosaic and Calypso hops bring stonefruit to the front seat, and the addition of Centennials nod towards citrus for a well-rounded aroma. The taste expands these hops with heavy peach tones and a profoundly bitter bite. There is some malt sweetness to stand this beer up, and Rampantís finish is bone-dry.

What stands out with Rampant for me is the hop combo. Kiwi, mango, tropical fruit galore for the aroma, very pleasant, very grassy as well. Smooth and almost creamy with perfect bitterness and a slightly dry finish. Rampant is pretty damn good for $3.99 a 22oz.

Pours mostly clear with just a light haze, and thin white head. Aromatic grapefruit and pine. Flavor is bitter first and foremost, semi-sweet malt, biscuit, heavy hops and an herbal character not unlike Ranger. Lingering burn on the palate.

Gold color with a small head. Very fruit-filled aroma. Some mango and citrus, along with maybe cherry. Strongly bitter flavor. Quite dry. Mild fruit.

A very light imperial ipa if that makes sense. Not very aromatic, and not really bitter. Very easy drinking. Would be a good gateway ipa I feel. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Let me say that I understand the appeal of such a beer: Under 5 bucks for a bomber of something hoppy that says "Imperial" on it!?!? Sign me up!!! With that said, I really didnít find this beer to deliver. Pour is a clear light gold, with some bone white head that leave beautiful sticky lacing all the way down the glass. Really a pretty beer. Aroma is stone fruit, some citrus, some pine resin...really didnít smack me in the face like I expect out of a IIPA. Taste has some solid bitterness to let you know what it is supposed to be, but the hop varieties get somewhat muddled and even soapy tasting at times. Decent white stone fruit and floral notes throughout. Some light sweet caramel malt. Finish with solid lasting pine bitterness. Dry, carbonated nicely. Overall, I did enjoy this beer, though I didnít feel like it really stood up to the "Imperial" designation. Is this a bad thing? Maybe not, as it drinks nice regardless.

Bomber from Casa De Oro. Quite pungent up front. Pretty hoppy. The hop flavor is fairly harsh, almost bordering on onion. Pretty tasty.

Pour clear golden with a large soapy white head. The aroma has sweet malt along with tropical fruit, pine, powder and some citrus. It has a medium / light body with fairly mild carbonation and a soft mouthfeel. The taste is much drier than the aroma with crackers and mildly toasty malt. This is a nice pine aspect along with grapefruit and tropical fruit hoppiness. The finish is quite bitter and hoppy with more pine and pleasing hops. There is some light warm alcohol, but not as much as many IIPAs. Nicely done for a six pack version of the style.

Bottle... Poured pale golden with a thick, frothy, white head. Nice retention and lacing. Nice pine andresinois earthy hop nose. Aroma came through in the flavor with a nice balance so that any bitterness was over powering. Pine, black pepper spice, resinous hops and a dense earthy spice. Clean finish, a little short in the finish.

Bottle. Head is initially large, frothy, white, mostly lasting. Body is dark yellow. Aroma is lightly malty (grain, wort), lightly to moderately hoppy (resin, apricot), with moderately strong notes of plastic, sawdust, varnish, modeling glue (toluene), vegetables (turnip?). Flavor is heavily sweet, lightly acidic, lightly bitter. Finish is moderately sweet, lightly acidic, moderately bitter, slightly unclean. Medium body, watery/oily texture, lively carbonation, moderately to heavily alcoholic. Highly phenolic, icky nose that the hops struggle to stand out in (and what hops are there smells mostly like raw resin, yawn). Not as dirty in the mouth, but still overly sweet and boozy. Truly awful.
