A burly and bitter Imperial IPA, Rampant pours a pure copper and carries the sheen of a rightly hopped beer. The Mosaic and Calypso hops bring stonefruit to the front seat, and the addition of Centennials nod towards citrus for a well-rounded aroma. The taste expands these hops with heavy peach tones and a profoundly bitter bite. There is some malt sweetness to stand this beer up, and Rampant’s finish is bone-dry.

12 ounce bottle. Pours a pale gold with a decent white head. Aroma of citrus, florals, and pine. Taste is grapefruit, pine, peaches, malt, and florals. Bitter finish. Kind of confusing.

Bottle pours an almost clear golden brew with a fluffy, lacing, white head. Scent is citrus, straw and pine. Taste is crisp pine and citrus. Good

Look: Beautiful golden orange had a 1 1/2 finger white head that dissipated real quick. Smell: Nice tropical floral notes, dried blueberries, pine cones, some citrus, mild alcohol. Taste: Watermelon, tropical fruits (mild passion fruit), floral, tobacco, alcohol, dry bitter finish with lingering citrus tones. Feel: Medium-light body harsh carbonation. Overall: The aroma is very pleasant, boarderline air freshner quality. The taste is where things become "different". I am not a huge fan of watermelons yet the initial flavor is watermelon flavored liquor. For that it really dampens the subtle flavors that are more enjoyable. Is this brew unique? Yes. Is this brew for me? .... Not really. Maybe I would enjoy it more on a Summer’s Friday evening. I am glad to see that NB is stepping outside the box on brewing. Since taste is biased, I say try it. Even though I didn’t enjoy it fully, maybe you might. It is worth a shot.

Sampled on 3/20/2013. This Imperial IPA pours a light orange gold color from a 22oz bottle. Small to medium sized white foamy head. The aroma is fruity and sweet, peach, pineapple and tropical. A light to medium bodied Imperial India Pale Ale. The malts are fruity and sweet. The hops are citrusy and tropical. Decent carbonation. There are a lot of tropical flavors in this beer, mango, pineapple and a peach/guava thing as well. Seems a little light in the body, but there does not seem to be a lot of sweet malt here either, wonder if its some sort of tradeoff. Pretty hoppy, wait…there is some piney hops in here as well. Finishes off fairly bitter and the bitterness hangs around for awhile. I kind of like the tropical flavor of this one. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is clean and crisp. Aftertaste is bitter.

Aroma is pine and a medium hint of syrup/sweetness, while the appearance is, for a IIPA, rather clear. The flavor is light grapefruit/pulp texture, sweet berries, an undercurrent of malt sweetness and a bitter/dry/resiny finish.

The beer I drank doesn’t match the brewers description. The color was light yellow and clear with a whispy white head. Peach aromas for sure, with some floral and very light citrus notes. Light-bodied and very drinkable. No noticeable alcohol. Good malt presence - bready - and hop flavor, but not as much as you would expect from a IIPA. The bitterness was not what I expected. Quite soft. I’ve had APAs more biting. A good beer, enjoyable to drink, but it is unique for a IIPA and doesn’t match expectations.

12oz bottle clear golden pour. Big white head. Citrus hop aroma. A bit of citrus taste kind of bland.

Pour from a 12oz bottle. Clear yellow amber brew with a small head. Aroma of floral and citrus hops, a bit of earth, a little over-ripe fruit. Taste is modest sweet malt, sweet fruit (peach?) and very bitter hops - resin, earth, some citrus. Dry finish and lingering bitterness. This is good but a little ponderous.

From the tap, light amber with a frothy foam. Citrus hop aroma carried with malt. Moderately sweet flavor. Pine, bitter hop flavor followed by more hops in the finish. Good but not great.

12oz bottle. Filtered orange-tan. Frothy, steady off-white head. Very pleasant peach-tinged hoppy aroma, as advertised. A mellow tropical citrus tone. Fresh and enjoyable, quite clean and easy drinking for the ABV. Big, but certainly not overbearing. Well done,
