COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A burly and bitter Imperial IPA, Rampant pours a pure copper and carries the sheen of a rightly hopped beer. The Mosaic and Calypso hops bring stonefruit to the front seat, and the addition of Centennials nod towards citrus for a well-rounded aroma. The taste expands these hops with heavy peach tones and a profoundly bitter bite. There is some malt sweetness to stand this beer up, and Rampantís finish is bone-dry.

12 oz bottle into a pint glass. A: Pours a dark gold color with nice clarity. The head is a nice-looking three finger offwhite shade. It has a good frothiness to it, and also retains very well. Plenty of lacing is left on the glass. S: I half-imagined this would be similar to a bigger version of Ranger, and the herbal hop tones mixed with biscuity yeast told me I was right. Thereís something not entirely right sitting with me aromatically that I canít put my finger on, so Iím docking points. T: I donít like how the biscuity flavors interact with the hop profile; it almost creates a vague ammonia-esque flavor. Anyways, this unpleasant flavor fades away right before the middle of the brew, being supplanted with light piny qualities, a touch of citrus, and caramel malt. At first, Iím not enthused by the opening flavors, but they do fade away leaving a reasonable but unassuming DIPA. M: Dry and crisp. The finish washes away some of the less pleasant notes well, which helps inspire additional drinkability. This is probably the best feature. O: I was expecting an imperialized Ranger, and I got an imperialized Ranger...for better or worse. Like Ranger, I could see this one being significantly better on tap. The dry, easy drinking nature does an okay job of covering up its flaws, but there are still far superior options out there that you should pick up instead - and not even its price point can sway me otherwise.

Where and how: bottle 355 ml
Aroma bold, citrusy hops. Intense fusion of grapes and mangos. Slight feel of alcohol at finish.
Appearance :
Top: medium sized, off-white.
Base: dark gold, clear
Palate : medium bodied. Plus carbonation, semi-dry.
Taste: plenty of hops, malt base felt tad muted. Good hop blend, solid but similar to many others incarnations of this style. Mild vanilla with sulphuric pungent hints on top end. Late heat.

2015-08-29. Lightly hazy dark golden body, nice large creamy off-white head. Aroma is mild at first, perhaps a bit cold. Light fruit and grass, pale malt. Flavour has a sweet core, good amount of bitterness that grows in the aftertaste, moderate fruit and light green hop character, mild grassy notes. Light tropical fruit and grassy resin as it warms? Moderate alcohol throughout seems amplified by the bitterness, which is cumulative. Smooth average plus to medium bodied palate. 3+ Enjoyable Bottle from Ye Old Spirit Shop, Frederick, MD.

Bottle in Seattle. More golden yellow, rather clear, some white foam. Clean, grassy resin hop. Mild by my standards but very inviting. Resiny dense first sip, medium bitter with good juicy, thick resin. Drier finish. Pretty darn nice.

Bottle: Clear orange gold with a very faint white head and lacing. Aroma is fruity - grapefruit and apricot. The flavor also has some caramel maltiness to it. The taste is slightly bitter with an astringent finish as well. Very good IPA.

Nice hoppy taste, however there was a slight metalic taste out of the bottle. Despite it being a strong IPA it still has a light drinkable taste. Nothing wrong with it at all, but i wouldnít write home about it.

12 oz. bottle from Bottled; drink by date of 8/9/15. Aroma: Moderate peach that tends towards acetone; moderate to heavy sweetness; lighter herbal quality. Appearance: Light copper pour with average carbonation holding up a foamy white head; the head eventually settles into a lightly bubbly skin. Flavor: Acetone is more noticeable than in the nose; sweetness is still going strong, and even increases towards the finish; herbal hops come in more toward the finish, but do nothing to quench the sweetness. Palate: Medium body, sticky texture, average carbonation, lingering/bitter finish. Overall: Iím guessing this would be much better fresh, but itís still within date... it shouldnít be this bad. Would not recommend purchasing so close to the bottleís "drink by" date.

Sampled from bottle @ Leuven Innovation Beer Festival. Clear golden color, small white head. Smell and taste malts, hops, perfumy, sweetish, lightly bitter. Hmm not a very good DIPA.
