A burly and bitter Imperial IPA, Rampant pours a pure copper and carries the sheen of a rightly hopped beer. The Mosaic and Calypso hops bring stonefruit to the front seat, and the addition of Centennials nod towards citrus for a well-rounded aroma. The taste expands these hops with heavy peach tones and a profoundly bitter bite. There is some malt sweetness to stand this beer up, and Rampantís finish is bone-dry.

12 oz bottle into a pint glass. A: Pours a dark gold color with nice clarity. The head is a nice-looking three finger offwhite shade. It has a good frothiness to it, and also retains very well. Plenty of lacing is left on the glass. S: I half-imagined this would be similar to a bigger version of Ranger, and the herbal hop tones mixed with biscuity yeast told me I was right. Thereís something not entirely right sitting with me aromatically that I canít put my finger on, so Iím docking points. T: I donít like how the biscuity flavors interact with the hop profile; it almost creates a vague ammonia-esque flavor. Anyways, this unpleasant flavor fades away right before the middle of the brew, being supplanted with light piny qualities, a touch of citrus, and caramel malt. At first, Iím not enthused by the opening flavors, but they do fade away leaving a reasonable but unassuming DIPA. M: Dry and crisp. The finish washes away some of the less pleasant notes well, which helps inspire additional drinkability. This is probably the best feature. O: I was expecting an imperialized Ranger, and I got an imperialized Ranger...for better or worse. Like Ranger, I could see this one being significantly better on tap. The dry, easy drinking nature does an okay job of covering up its flaws, but there are still far superior options out there that you should pick up instead - and not even its price point can sway me otherwise.

Single bottle and served in my GI IPA tulip: Pours a clean deep golden hue with a initial huge head and excellent lacework. The aroma is fronted by juicy and dank hop esters like mango, pink grapefruit, watermelon and some resiny notes. Along for the ride is some biscuit and husky malts, dash of Grains of Paradise too. The taste is more refined, moderate bitterness and citrus notes over a layer of basic malts, some sharpened spice tones upon the finish but otherwise a very average DIPA.

Pours golden with a medium, fluffy, off-white head and some lacing. Aroma is biscuits and piney hops. Flavor is bready malt, biscuit, and piney, citrus hops with some hop bitterness on the finish. Medium body with low carbonation. Pretty good.

Since DogFish 90 left Memphis I have been looking for a good IPA alternative. This one is with drinking but not in the DF90 category. Been pours a nice coppery color with a rapidly diminishing off white head. Aroma is nice with notes of citrus. . Taste is heavily hopped , intensely bitter with a moderate malt backbone. Not bad

Pours an amber color with an off-white head. Aroma is pretty light for an imperial IPA. Mostly citrus hops and caramel malts on the nose. Flavor is slightly watery at first but the citrus hops and alcohol warming come out on the finish. Not the best imperial IPA.

Bottle-Poured slightly hazy golden color with minimal white head. Aroma-pine, grapefruit, pear and hint of sweet malt. Taste is piney and lemony, a little astringent with pear flavor in the finish. Palate-has thin body and above average carbonation. Finish is dry and bitter. Overall an ok beer, not very smooth but also very drinkable for me.

Pours yellow gold, nice fizzy white head, which disputes but maintains a lace cap for the duration. Slightly peachy aroma. Taste is distinctive dry piney hops, with an almost smokey malt backdrop. Palate is clean with bit of lingering smoke/pine. Overall a respectable Imperial IPA.

Poured from 650mL bottle. Clear, light orangey-yellow with white head. Citrus hop and biscuit malt aroma. Taste is light-medium hops and slightly sweet biscuity malt. Not much finish. Medium body. Alcohol is hidden, balance is nice and light, but itís not long enough and little bit bland for the style.
