COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A burly and bitter Imperial IPA, Rampant pours a pure copper and carries the sheen of a rightly hopped beer. The Mosaic and Calypso hops bring stonefruit to the front seat, and the addition of Centennials nod towards citrus for a well-rounded aroma. The taste expands these hops with heavy peach tones and a profoundly bitter bite. There is some malt sweetness to stand this beer up, and Rampantís finish is bone-dry.

Pours a nice golden color with a small white head that fades fast. Aroma is full of Centennial citrus notes with a light pine later. Flavor has an early earthy presence that is quickly overtaken by grapefruit and pine notes with some mild sweetness from the malt. Body is light/modest with a nice dryness to it. Overall a pretty good good brew. The alcohol isnít a factor and the hops stand out very nicely in the brew.

12 ounce bottle from Badger Spirits in Beloit, WI, served a few minutes out of the fridge in a pint glass. Slightly hazy amber-gold, moderate white stable head lasts and lasts and leaves touches of crystalline lacing when it finally subsides...nose is primarily citric and sweet - honey-dripping-orange - but thereís some woody and earthy notes there too...quite sweet upfront, moderately bitter all the way through, drying out somewhat towards the end; fairly acidic, somewhat tart, but primarily juicy; thereís also something of an overripe or spoiled fruit tone that doesnít really help matters...thick and fairly syrupy body, moderate tingly carbonation. I think this is the first NB beer Iíve rated since Iíve been back on this site and itís certainly one of only a few that Iíve had over the last several years, though itís become a ubiquitous brand in the Midwest. Something about them just doesnít appeal anymore; while this was not a terrible experience or anything, itís not about to make me care about this brewery either.

On tap: Golden color. A ripe pear and apricot hop fruitiness. Noticeably sweet honey malt, pleasant alcohol note and a relatively mild bitterness. Delicious.

Clear golden colour, white head. Aroma of hops, loads of hops, tropical fruits. Bitter flavour, light sweet, honey. Finish tropical fruits and honey.

Bottled. A golden beer with a huge white head. The aroma has notes of hops, spices, citrus fruits, and malt. The flavor is sweet with notes of malt, carmel, hops, flowers, alcohol, citrus fruits, and spices, leading to a bitter finish.

Bosco (290) - Boca Raton, Florida, USA - SEP 14, 2016
Not "pure copper" like brewer states, more like an almost clear yellow with fine head and lacing. Hard to describe complex flavor includes candy, citrus, toffee, spice among others. Not "bone dry" yet a fairly dry finish. This beer deserves another go around. BB date: 12/11/2016 consumed on: 09/14/2016. 12oz can from Publix, Boca Raton, FL

Pours an orange-amber with foamy white head. Smells of peach and citrus, biscuits. Taste is bitter and sweet - citrus, bread/biscuit with a bit of peach pit at the end.

North End American Grill, North Wildwood, NJ in Bottle. I came back to the North End to have Cape May Brewery Coastal Evacuation Imperial IPA. Unfortunately, they were having a problem with the tap so I selected Rampant in a bottle. It has become one of my favorite beers -- up there with Guinness (which has some sentimental value to me). It does have a enjoyable sweetness in it -- but -- it does have a bitter bite, much more so than Cape May Coastal Evacuation.

8.5%ABV. Imperial IPA. Poured out gold. 8ļSRM. Nose is sweet malt, pine. Mouthfeel is soapy. Palate has ton of sweet malt and malted sugar with an almost corn syrup sweet. Hops are bright, citrus peel, grapefruit peel burst like when you bite into a yellow grapefruit, then light pine, deep spruce needles with that aromatic oily dimension to it. Some spiciness with deep cilantro maybe some wild scallion. Finish is medium-long with resin predominating. Overall a valiant effort but not a very even tasting ride for me. Maybe because the malt profile was a little one dimensional without much depth although sweet.

On tap at St. Augustineís during New Belgium 25th anniversary celebration. Pours a clear golden with a white head. Aroma is skunky, herbal, floral. Hoppy taste has pretty the character. Very pleasant, but not enough of residual sweetness as for me.

Smells piney and hoppy. Tastes the exact same. This pours a clear gold color, has great lacing and some small head retention. This is an excellent beer.
