Rolle Bolle is a wonderfully fun Belgian yard game and a delightfully easy summer ale. Brewed with monk fruit and soursop it stays true to the Belgian tradition of playing with beer and all that goes into it. Roll on.

Crystal clear gold. Just enough hop action to give backbone to the unusual malty flavors. Very clean and drinkable. Another winner from NB.

Yellow, clear, white head. Smells crisp and grassy, with a bit of woody hops. Taste is grassy, mildly sweet, with a touch of hop bitterness in the finish. OK, I suppose...

Pours clear gold with frothy white head. Smells crisp and lightly hopped with a bit of tanginess. taste is crisp, with a hint of wheat and tartness. Body is light and easy to drink with a perfect crisp carbonation. Refreshing and simple but a little unique flavor on the end. Hit the spot, and doesnít have an typical belgian yeast flavors that i donít care for.

Bottle. Pours a crystal clear pale yellow color with a small white head on it. Nose is a little light and fruity with some slight sour elements to it. Taste is slightly fruity, but thereís a decent amount of bitterness to this beer. Iím just not sure what to think about it.

Draft. Pours a meduim, well retained white head, with extensive lacing, over a very slightly hazy yellow (SRM 3) body.....nose is slightly sour, with light fruit, malts.....taste is slightly sour, with mild fruit including hints of citrus, pineapple, finishing with a lingering slightly sour bitter hop tones....mouth feel light and almost watery, carbonation adds fizz. Although the beer falls into this remarkably broad and indistinct style, it is unbalanced. The adjunct fruit add unusual aromas and flavors but the overall really doesnít either smell or taste particularly good. I wonder if brewers arenít getting too cute and rarefied for their own good. Decent belgian ale. Some sweetness to it, offset nicely by the yeast.

12 oz. Clear pale golden with a lasting disc of cream. Mild nose of grass, toast, and toffee, plus a hint of wild garlic. Tastes of lightly toasted grain, fresh grass, plus touches of fruit pith and cardboard. Later, a nondescript acidic sourness takes over. Itís sort of like a spent lime wedge, but with some added sweetness. Light body has medium carbonation and finishes dry and acidic-astringent. Nice experiment, but nothing I would ever go back to.

Clear, pale yellow with a white head. It has a light, earthy hop and wheat aroma. The body is light and watery with lively carbonation. The taste is mildly bitter with a bland finish.

Picked up at the COOP tonight.... Pours a very light straw colored brew with a nice 2 finger white head with good retention and lacing. The nose is grainy pale malts with hints of something that I associate with citrus and maybe even strawberry... but the fruitiness is very restrained... no real hoppiness except some light grassy notes that I may be imagining. Flavor mirrors the aroma with a lingering grainy/light husky maltiness... the fruitiness is still there, but really light... some peppery notes with warmth. Body is light and effervescent. Not sure that I EVER would have guessed this as a Belgian Pale. Drinkable... but somehow boring.

UPDATED: AUG 5, 2013 New Belgiumís latest summer offering is not good. It is okay. Pours a misty yellow with thin white head. Smells of lemon, hops, and malt and a little bit of tart fruit. Tastes like a pale ale with sour fruit. It does not really work for me. It is interesting as a flavor but I donít think it is great.
